I get it, a rock solid design and successful product for Motorola and Verizon, but does it really warrant $199 with all of the new phones launching this summer? Seems a little high for me. This phone (less a few minor upgrades) is essentially the same as last year.

    • http://twitter.com/cromag_rickmanu Dan Rickman

I agree with you there, this will be my next phone but I do think it should release at $150 or less.  Going from one processor to dual core is NOT a minor upgrade.  Making the screen a higher resolution than EVERY 4G phone on Verizon, NOT a minor upgrade.  This is definitely an evolution of a phone rather than an innovation however, and the price should reflect that.

With the phones out on todays market its like taking a step BACK to last year MOTO…  What new features more bloatware ?? Dual core is all its got going for it… NO THX…

An improved processor and a higher resolution screen are steps backward… IN BIZARRO LAND!!!

    • WTF

I see you’ve set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public.
Someday, we’ll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject. as well
You sound reasonable…Time to up my medication. I’m glad you spent so much time clicking on the likes for anyone that remotely agreed with you LOL…..I’m already visualizing the duct tape over your mouth.
I’m not being rude. You’re just insignificant. I don’t know what your problem is, but I’ll bet it’s hard to pronounce. The fact that no one understands you doesn’t mean you’re an artist.

hate be a stickler…but why the buttons?

    • Anonymous

It’s a subjective thing; buttons provide more consistent feedback than the capacitive touch areas, especially if they’re not well designed.

Sorry, I love my Droid X, BUT…no unlocked bootloader, no LTE…NO SALE!

    Next!

      • http://twitter.com/MrKow84 Kyle

You guys should head over to Engadget and read some of there reviews, if you think I’m unfair… I think you’ll see pretty much everyone would agree with me on my statements..

      • WTF

Awww so do you feel better now that you believe that (everyone) would agree with you on another site .

sounds like your in high school (everyone agrees with me on my statements na na na na na  )  it’s just that a statement
and as useless as it is unfortunately we are still subject to it.  Who cares if you think everyone on another site agrees with you you douche.  Well I guess we all with have to follow Kyle now seeing as he has the backing from Engadget <— awesome site by the way but none the less Kyle has Purposed it so there for it is ……… What ever

    Congratulations Zach !!!!!!!
You were finally able to post an objective piece on a new handset release, showcasing the ACTUAL handset without subjectively injecting any crApp in the background. There might be hope for you yet, dear fellow.

The people have spoken.  Clearly you are the biggest douche ball sucking racist boring troll in here.  Deal with it you fat loser.

  • zemelb

i will always love droid but a few things about this phone make me not want to get it:
    1) no 4G/LTE.  why, when LTE is what verizon is pushing in the future, would you not make any new phone you come out with support it?
    2) buttons? really?  no thanks.
    3) $200 is a tad pricey considering the phone’s lack of 4G and that, with the exception of the addition of a dual core, it is basically a replica of the original Droid X.

sorry, i’ll be waiting for the thunderbolt to drop in price, or for another 4G phone to come out with a lower price tag.

    • Markubis

My guess is because the design and implementation was already done for this. And also, because some people do not care about 4G service and may lean towards this phone as an excellent choice for their requirements.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_GP2WYAHXS6CRUREISWBGPUSUGE Michael

IMHO, This is way phone upgrades should be done. Exact same looking casing, button lay out and everything. Just new internals and new screen.

I give this two thumbs up to Moto and VZW.

Then we can all be thankful that your opinion doesn’t matter.

How Does My Friend Already Have This.? Since About 2 Weeks Ago.?

She Had The Incredible, It Broke, They Gave Her This.

    • Chargerman165

She’s probably going to hate it. I hated all three original DXs I had. Love Thunderbolt. Wife loves Incredible 2 and I loved my first Incredible. Wife’s Droid 2 was junk also.

  • ActionAl

Too much $$$ for no 4G.

  • Chargerman165

They can keep it. Hated the first three DXs I had. Love my Thunderbolt and Iphone.

As a developer and a computer and tech enthusiast for over twenty years I read everything. So much for your mackid comment huh.

        So obviously you care mackid!
        How dense are you?

Why does the writeup say 2.3, but the press release say 2.2?

I learned that from you childish morons on here. Feels like being in the 70′s and 80′s again.

  • Wireless Hero

    You guys are horribly late…

  • Loony2nz

B….F….D!  I have a Droid X.  It’s successor is barely a successor.  No LTE?  No FFC?  Still crappy washed out LCD?  Locked BootLoader..again? I’m wondering what genius greenlighted this in the dev department.  I’m so over Moto.

    • WTF

Thank you. We’re all refreshed and challenged by your unique point of view.
I will always cherish the initial misconceptions I had about you.
It’s a thankless job, but I’ve got a lot of Karma to burn off.  U n Kyle need to meet

  • http://techpump101.blogspot.com Christian Drey

the PR says 2.2 froyo.. bgr says 2.3

  • Anonymous

I know it’s not huge for some, but for me, the lack of a front-facing camera is a letdown.
