Apple may give retail outlets ‘Apple Store 2.0′ makeover

Retail

Apple is giving its Apple Stores a “Apple Store 2.0″ makeover, according to a rumor from 9to5 Mac. Reportedly, the stores — with design input from Steve Jobs himself — will feature new designated “startup session” areas where, presumably, new customers will be taught how to use and setup their new products. Similarly, Apple will replace signs in its stores with interactive iPad units, and will offer more interactive product bars. Cupertino isn’t skimping on multimedia, either, and is said to be outfitting its Apple Store 2.0 destinations with new audio systems and much larger displays. Rumor has it that Apple may also deploy a new Apple Store application for iOS devices that will allow users to schedule appointments as they walk into the store. Sounds like it could be a nice way to celebrate Apple’s 10th retail anniversary.

And that bothers why? Are you invested in those people’s lives or something?

      • nahkid

no, I just like to point out the obvious.. And I’m a troll, I guess you’re just realizing that now though.

i haven’t bought an apple product in about 3 years (ipod touch 2g) but whenever i’m at certain malls in houston, i always go into the apple store to play with the toys. it’s actually a good waste of time. they have made the store experience enjoyable.

”new customers will be taught how to use and setup their new products”

Who honestly doesnt know how to use an iPhone, iPod Touch, or an iPad?

    • http://atwelfthmeow.com/ Matt Wolfe

      They sell computers too…

The leap from Windows to OSX can be a large one.  My 72 yr old stepfather just did it and as much as he loves it, a few minutes w/ an Apple employee could have made his life easier.

contrary to popular belief, iProducts do have a learning curve. Particularly if your coming from any other platform. I’m still trying to figure out how to do certain functions on my iPad that on my Android phone I would just press the menu button to bring up those secondary options.

Doesn’t matter to me, I avoid Apple Stores like the plague. Way too many mouth-breathers in there. If I need to buy something there, I make a beeline for the first free employee, tell them what I want, refuse their up-selling attempts, pay, and get the hell out of there.

       Your solution is the best

      Mouth-breathers?

Nobody “needs” to buy anything from an Apple store.

      • Anonymous

Water, food and maybe shelter are the only real needs, everything else was just made up.

         What about love?

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BHMB52ZFMATI5KS7D4JT6UU7NA Eric W

It’s illegal to buy, or rent love in most places in the world.

The Apple Store in Old Town Pasadena is under complete renovation. They magically relocated temporarily two doors down and covered the entire store exterior with a black box two stories high. So looks like they obviously will have 2 stories now. That store is a high volume store to say the least.

BGR seems to think that everybody is as excited about Apple as they are. I assure you, we’re not.

    • http://www.droiddoes.com/ Norm

Nope. We want DROID and DROID only. Thanks.

      • Anonymous

         Good one.

      • TOMMMMMM

No Norm, we all know you wanted to be the middle of the human centipad

         Where’s the DROID Store?

      • nahkid

         lol

      • http://twitter.com/MrKow84 Kyle

        wont be one… EVER…

      • Steve Hillshire

Don’t need one.  There’s so many retailers eager to sell them a dedicated store would be a waste.

      • http://twitter.com/MrKow84 Kyle

        Then go to DROIDLIFE.COM  douchebag.

You are so unexcited that you keep taking about it.

        No, I never took anything.

They may not make the best cell phone in the market, but they certainly are the best marketers in the world.

    Typical Apple customer:

ooohhh look its shiny, lets buy it.   What does it do again?

    • Anonymous

Yeah and you are definitely proof that all Fandroids are geniuses.

  • Anonymous

How are those Windows stores doing??

    • Anonymous

The one at the Mall of America (directly across from the Apple Store) is chronically empty while the Apple Store is packed, even at random times like Wednesday at 10:30am (had a Genius Bar appointment). The only times I’ve seen the Windows Store with “customers” is on the weekend. I say “customers” because the majority looked like freeloaders checking their email and playing the Kinect; didn’t see anyone buying anything.

  • serpentor

Let me get this straight… Apple is going to make you schedule a genius bar appointment on your iPhone/iPad that doesn’t work?

    • Anonymous

“- will feature new designated “startup session” areas where, presumably,
new customers will be taught how to use and setup their new products.”

Now, more than ever, resistance is futile…at least for the drones. Behold the collective.

I guess you could always schedule an appointment with a genius to tell you how to hold a phone.

Can you believe that?  And though we have to ship our stuff (android stuff) to be fixed and have no company staff (htc, samsung, motorola, et al) that we can physically speak to, we are so smart we don’t need support anyway!  How dare those evil monsters!

  • http://about.me/brandonmccall brandonmccall

I don’t care. I’m hungry for more detailed information regarding the iPhone 4S.

    • serpentor

      It’ll be the 3G -> 3GS all over again.

      I’ll sum up the keynote… The 4S is fast; really really fast; Amazing; S stands for speed; Incredible; You won’t believe how quick; Simply Fantastic; Awesome; Awesome; Really Awesome;

  • http://about.me/brandonmccall brandonmccall

To hell with a new storefront. I’m a man. I’m in and I’m out.

  • serpentor

Anyone want to do a BGR campout on 5th Ave?

    Proposed topics of discussion:
    1. When are we getting the Sprint EVO review.
    2.?

Apple stores are the most horrible stores in the universe.  They are ugly, badly designed, repulsive slabs.  the only way to improve them is to replace them with Hot Topic stores!

  • Anonymous

They really are doing a good job with their stores. It is usually a welcomed experience to visit one. I wish some of their products were less dependant upon computers to work but the stores are write good…

  • Anonymous

Maybe someone should open up an Android store out of their mom’s basement so they can teach people how to “hack into their phones and cook up some really cool ROMS.”.

  • Anonymous

and everyone predicted a potential new product launch…
but instead we get a futuristic interactive store upgrade…
apple sure knows how to butter its bread and keep the
herd guessing while stacking obscene hordes of green
paper in the bank… i foresee a monster bong rip of some
kine bud before stepping into the next century… my only
serious concern is how massive the disco ball will be.
