White Samsung Nexus S headed to AT&T

mobile

AT&T may soon join Sprint and T-Mobile as the third U.S. carrier to offer the Nexus S. The phone was spotted in white on Samsung’s website with AT&T listed as its carrier, although Samsung appears to have removed the page. We suspect AT&T will tag the Nexus S with HSPA+ support and slap a 4G at the end of its name, although the website doesn’t confirm whether it will launch as a 3G or a 4G device. The Nexus S is powered by Google’s latest Android Gingerbread operating system and will receive future Android updates ahead of other devices. It’s equipped with a 4-inch 800 x 480 resolution display, a 5-megapixel camera, a front-facing VGA camera, and a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor.

Only a a rear cover in white does not make for a white phone. Back under the bridge troll

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_GP2WYAHXS6CRUREISWBGPUSUGE Michael

I’m sure there have been hundreds of white phones BEFORE the gee-zus phone came out.

    • http://www.droiddoes.com/ Norm

If it’s unoriginal, it’s probably apple.

    • http://twitter.com/scuba323 Stephen Vanderwarker

       thats not to bad

  • Kerim

The phone has been on sale on newegg for at least two days now

  • Shaunchong

I currently have the iPhone 4 but will switch to Andriod if somebody out there finally makes a 4.3 qhd screen with no skin riding on top. Is that too much to ask for?

    • http://twitter.com/cyberb0b Bob Autrey

Apparently it is. I’d do the same…

    • Joestudda714

All you have to do is root the damn phone and make it stock problem solved… sheesh

    • http://twitter.com/adamjayreid Adam Reid

Yes, it actually is. And I always question people who say they are gonna drop their iPhones. Have you perused the Android Market? I think you’ll find quite rapidly that the apps you enjoy simply aren’t there. But hey, you can widget-out your phone to your hearts desire when you make the switch!!!

      • Anonymous

Every app I used on my iPhone I have on my Android phone.

      • Joel

Quality is not the same though, my iPhone apps were way more polished

      • http://www.vgchartz.com SuperChunk

What is missing? While YMMV, I would bet that 98% of users would find all their apps. Only significant app I can think of is Netflix and we know that is coming with the next round of more secure hardware.

      • http://twitter.com/adamjayreid Adam Reid

Ughh, I always have to list shit dont I.

        Games:
Infinity Blade, Rage, SF IV, NBA Jam, Canabalt, Plants v. Zombies, Sonic 4

        Entertainment:
        Hulu, Netflix

      • http://twitter.com/adamjayreid Adam Reid

Netflix for Android announced….if you have one of the chosen few phones. But hey, thats progress amirite? Android, for those who like to play app compatibility bingo, haha

I’ll take better software, battery life, support and service over a widget anyday. What’s the difference if the weather is on your screen or you open a app and it on your screen in complete detail?

      • Baz

Huge difference, a perfect use-case is news. I have an ipad2 (love it) and a nexus one (love it). I was very excited when I got the ipad2 to start reading news on it. I downloaded all the spiffy apps, even bought a couple of subscriptions, and away I went. At first I’d be good about opening and checking each app, navigating to the section I want, and doing diff for what I haven’t read about in other apps. But before I knew it, I found myself more and more simply flipping to my “news” page full of widgets on the nexus, with the latest headlines rotating in each one, then clicking on the headline that interests me. In moments I am able to scan 4+ news, without having to: find app, load app, navigate section, check for anything interesting, close app, find next app, load app,  navigate section, check for anything interesting, close app, find third app, etc.

your request should be answered later this year. enjoy

  • Windontree

Wonderful. 4 inch display IS the SweetSpot screen size for average sized hands.

    • http://twitter.com/JordanTBrown Jordan Brown

the newer phone with 4.3″ displays are packaged alot better, like the GS2 and HTC Sensation. Smaller Bezels, less wasted space. The Atrix at 4″ is tiny compared to the Captivate was at 4″.

    • Biggles

No, 3.5″ is the sweet spot…at least until Steve Jobs changes his mind.

  • Rinzler

God i hope they also have the all black version, white phones are NOT my thing

  • Don B.

    Let’s hope for a Verizon LTE version….

    • Wirelessmodz

is that richard petty as you avatar ?

      • Don B.

        No that is me…

  • http://profiles.google.com/booboolala2000 Patrick Crumpler

Waaaaaa! Only Apple can make a white phone, dont they know this? Waaaaaaaa!

Talk about copying. HTC had the white EVO out before the others, as well as even BlackBerry.

    • Anonymous

Waaaa!!! Htc had it first. Dork

Waaaa!!! Htc had it first. Dork

  • Windontree

    NO microSD card?????

  • Seabass

HSPA+ never shows up on mine just the little H pops up I own the I9020A model :(

  • John Smith

The version Nexus S compatible with AT&T frequencies is already available in Canada since April.

The white cover would be a new thing though.

  • Anonymous

I just don’t get it…Pretty much everybody I know gushes about the different colors available for phones, yet they all just put it into a sleeve/case anyway…iPhone, i am looking at you, too.

And seriously, just changing the battery cover is not a color change. They could just sell every shade battery cover separately and have the same effect for a couple bucks.

  • http://www.vgchartz.com SuperChunk

So now everyone BUT Verizon has a stock android nexus phone. WTF VERIZON!!!

  • http://www.thetechtemple.com The Tech Temple

Uuuuugly. Why not just make the entire phone white?

    • http://www.searingarrow.com AlienSix

And end up with 10 month phone delays like Apple? Pass. Making white glass is serious business

  • http://twitter.com/tpgraham Travis Graham

If this were a dual-core phone and 32GB I would be all over it.

  • Scott

If it just simply had an SD slot, I would probably buy one. Until then, I think I’ll just hang onto my AT&T N1 and wait for a new Nexus this year.

  • Keith_03_200

This is my next phone. I hope it comes out soon.

  • Anonymous

is the gps actually going to work unlike the stupid captivate’s which never did ??? if so i might consider it.

    • Seabass

GPS works great just used it on my vacation and I feel your pain with the captivate cause I still own one.

  • Cer

Verizon needs to get the next Nexus.

  • Anonymous

Too little too late… Galaxy S II, please…
