    Google Music
    Ice Cream Sandwich
Updates for 18mos after the purchase of the phone (from supported partners)

    Excellent, excellent news.

while all of this is exciting a lot of it is Catch up to Apple (Movie rentals, TV, and the inevitable Apple music service coming next month). I think the pinning features are the most innovative but I’d like to see more that makes it stand apart instead of Apple setting a standard and other companies trying to beat it. WP7 follows their own drummer now and that kind of innovation is nice to see. Stop copying and create people

    • Anonymous

On the other hand, these are services that everyone wants, regardless of whether they’re WP7, Android, iOS, or whatever.

Also, Apple’s streaming music service has long been rumored. Google, even though it’s still a beta, has actually released something. Can you say that Google copied Apple when (a) storing your clouds in the cloud is not a new advancement and (b) Google has actually released something (albeit a limited beta release) while all we have from Apple are unsubstantiated rumors about what we assume they’re going to do?

      • Anonymous

Actually, we’ve been able to store music and play from the cloud (MobileMe) for quite some time now. Granted it’s not something Apple advertises, it’s more of a you’ve gotta figure it out on your own kinda deal.

With that being said, Apple is waiting for all the proper license agreements, data center, etc. and you can bet when they do release iTunes in the cloud it won’t be Beta.

      • Kelly O’Brian

        Is MobileMe free?

      • Anonymous

@8f756a7fc94e6e26712962836870b6d7:disqus Never said MobileMe was free, that was not my point. Googles’ service won’t be free either once it comes out of Beta…..my point is Apple doesn’t do Beta releases for the public. It interferes with User Experience…a standard they are not willing to compromise on.

      • Anonymous

Taking a look at MobileMe seems to indicate that it’s more focused on being online storage, as opposed to something that’s explicitly designed to allow you to store/access/whatever your music in the cloud. Not to belittle the service or anything; that’s just my interpretation of it.

And iTunes in the cloud will definitely have a polished user experience; only the most fanboyest of fanboys can deny that. However, considering that iTunes is a right piece of shit on Windows, I look forward to being able to uninstall it and being able to access all of my music from anything that has a browser.

Once the iCloud is released though, I expect it to have features that will be copied as time goes on. I always give Apple respect for giving certain UX functionality a major mindshare boost. I just… don’t want to use their products that much.

      • Anonymous

@Sqube:disqus MobileMe is most definitely Apple’s weakest product, I do find it useful for sending an receiving files to my clients, syncing contacts and appointments. Yes, it needs work and I believe it will get a major overhaul this summer.

I am just hoping that iTunes will actually be integrated into Apples’ cloud solution. If iTunes in it’s entirety is available on the cloud…won’t matter what machine you are on. I’m guessing Apple’s server farm is going to be much more than just a storage facility…time will tell.

      • http://foxpacific.myopenid.com/ James Pakele

I agree as one of the quotes going around the internet is Jobs: Can somebody tell me what the fuck MobileMe is supposed to do?… then…. So why doesn’t it do that!!!

    • Anonymous

“Catch up to Apple” and then “the inevitable Apple music service coming next month”…..

How is that catch up if Apple hasn’t released anything yet? Apple also has some 3d patents, does that mean that the Evo 3d is playing catch up to Apple’s 3d devices?

      • http://foxpacific.myopenid.com/ James Pakele

Wished I had scrolled down a little more first, I wouldn’t have repeated what you said… They just mad because the iPad “innovations” were thinner, lighter, faster… two months later Samsung beat them on each selling point… Oh crap… the cover sprinkled with fairy dust! Innovation at it’s finest!

    • http://foxpacific.myopenid.com/ James Pakele

Hehehehehe… You had me at “Catch up to Apple” followed by “Apple music services COMING NEXT MONTH” This is music done right… not sync to one computer… computer goes dead, sync to new computer CRAP ALL MY MUSIC IS GONE!!! In all fairness I think Amazon does it a little better because they have the attached store… but still, iTunes and the way it handles music seriously sucks ass… MobileMe $100 a year, no thank you!

    • http://foxpacific.myopenid.com/ James Pakele

It’s funny how you stop at Movie rentals and TV and seem to ignore the rest of the stuff they talked about… From controlling lightbulbs to laying out a platform to create interactivity amongst devices in your home. The ONLY thing they “copied” is movie rentals really and that was sort of a drop in the bucket next to everything else they talked about… so you base your argument on ONE point and ignore the other 95% of the keynote… nice blinders…

  • http://www.facebook.com/brandon.im Brandon Im

yea, I am pretty pumped about all of this. Don’t really care too much about the movie rentals, but its cool you can store it locally if you want it…start a DL before hitting the plane ride ftw…and I want a free tab =(

  • Bringit

From that top picture it looks absolutely mobbed in there! There has to be at least 3 or 4 people milling around. Wow!
