Amazon Cloud Player now plays friendly with iOS

mobile

Amazon’s Cloud Player, which provides access to music stored on your Amazon Cloud Drive, is now working in Safari on iOS devices including the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Amazon hasn’t announced the support just yet, but if you navigate to your Amazon Cloud Player account from an iOS device β€” and ignore a few warnings about your device not being supported β€” you’ll be able to access and play all of your tunes. As TechCrunch first spotted, your music will also pause if you receive a phone call or a push notification. Amazon has only recognized full support through computers and on Android smartphones, so there may still be a few bugs to be found. We’re hoping there’s a native iOS app in the works, too, but we won’t hold our breath just yet.

I doubt that Amazon will end up making a Native iOS app as the probably anticipate Apple blocking it with the excuse that it would confuse users with their iTunes service. And Apple will be starting their own Cloud services anyway furthering the possible blockage.

Apple’s cloud service hasn’t launched yet so my comment on what they might
do is pure speculation. However Apple could end up weilding its infamous ban
hammer on them after its iCloud for music launches. Apple might choose to
not let competing apps exist on its market after they enter the cloud scene.
Amazon is playing it safe right now. They might make an app for iOS after
Apple launches its iCloud for music when/if the Apple App Store rules get
updated. Like I said, its pure speculation.

They’ll probably do a web app instead, but other than that it works just fine.
