iOS 4.3.3 jailbreak now available with redsn0w

mobile

The infamous Dev Team announced on Thursday evening that redsn0w has been updated to support Apple’s latest version of iOS, 4.3.3. For the third iOS update in a row, the Dev Team says it has been able to use the same exploit to jailbreak iOS. The Team wonders aloud why Apple hasn’t addressed this issue yet, and we’re hoping the answer is that the software team in Cupertino is currently focusing on more pressing matters. In the mean time, owners of Apple’s iPhone 4 (GSM), iPhone 3GS, iPad, third or fourth-generation iPod touch, and second-generation Apple TV can now feel free to update and jailbreak away. Unfortunately, the Dev Team’s iPad 2 jailbreak is still in development.

        TypoPhone lockscreen

    • http://twitter.com/ben_levine Ben Levine

That theme is called “typophone 4″. I had it on mine when it was at 4.1 but once I upgrade to 4.2 it no longer works. I wanted to update to the newest firmware but I find a lot of the things in cydia that I really like don’t work with the newest firmware.

    • Pesoeat

      Typophone lock I think

    • Anonymous

you can do that without jb or even rooting on android, sux you iphone users have to jb to put a bad ass clock and date on your lockscreen im amused at that let the iphone, android battle begin now

how about the poor verizon iPhone… sad…

Use Sn0wbreeze 2.7 on windows to Jailbreak 4.2.8 on Verizon.. I am using it untethered right now.

      • Raf1069

what does tethered and untethered mean?

      • OBJ_me

A tethered JB requires you to boot the phone with a computer each time – re-exploiting the limera1n hole at each boot as the boot rom isn’t writeable(modifiable) so it needs to be manually applied each time(this is actually semi tethered as the jailbroken part is only rendered unusable in this case!)

Untethered just works, no computer necessary after the first JB. It is done via an exploit in the kernel from Stefan esser AKA @i0n1c. The limera1n exploit is used as the initial vector to gain access and then i0n1c’s untether kernel patch is applied. It’s essentially 2 different jailbreaks at once.

Why Apple has not patched this yet I do not know as a userspace exploit(kernel patch) is far easier to fix and is done at the OS level but all A4 based devices will always be vulnerable to the tethered limera1n as it lives in the bootrom and would require a hardware revision. It is patched in the A5….

it works as a phone idiot…..

Whats that app called the one thats on the lock screen for this picture…? I want that lol…

    • Anonymous

no worries found out… discontinued theme…

  • Anonymous

Like said before, the theme is called typophone 4, and it does work with the newest firmware. You just have to tweak some of the files. In ifile, or diskaid (or whatever you use) go into the theme folder and open up style.css, then find this code:

    background-image:url(‘/private/var/mobile/Library/SpringBoard/LockBackground.jpg’);

    and change it to:

    background-image:url(‘LockBackground.png’);

The download slide to unlock killer in winterboard and hide the slide bar. It then works perfectly and is a great looking lockscreen!

    • Gt5l

It worked on my i4 4.2.1

    • http://dosjon.com Rick

I got it mostly working. I don’t know how to get the iPhone’s default date and time to go away. (It’s now over the Typophone theme)

      • Gonzalez_sg

Mines the sane way. Have you fixed it yet?

      • Anonymous

Download clock hide in Cydia then enable it in your settings.

Download clock hide in Cydia then enable it in your settings.

      • http://dosjon.com Rick

        That did it. Thanks.
Anyone else get the weird, blinking clock thing? 88:88 blinks over the time with every second. Is that normal?

      • Gt5l

there is an app in cydia called clock hide.

    • Gonzalez_sg

I did all that u said but the date is still there. It’s on top of the background. Please help.

      • Anonymous

Download clock hide in Cydia. Then go to your regular settings and find it. Click on it then enable it.

  • Noops

Wow, seems everyone wants to theme their phone.. Take a look at the latest android phones.. They are a themers paradise. A lot more customizable.

    • Bringit

      no theme is worth that.

    • Brian

I’m willing to beat there are far more themes for the jailbroken community than there are for android devices, no joke. Themes get much, much more intuitive on the iPhone as well. Yeah, I’ve owned three android devices and came back to the iPhone. Call me simple :-P

      • Anonymous

haha your shitting me are you on crack there are way more themes for android, get you facts apple fag. And you dont have to spend a month and sacrifice fingers from push fatigue from having to push so much in getting that theme to work on iphone its simple on android “JUST SET IT AND FORGET IT”

  • Makk209

What’s the name of this lockscreen I want it please.

    • Msayakamoto

      Read the posts above.. really…

      • Weapondrift

The THEME that you keep posting is for the lockscreen only, not the rest. Whats the rest called? I dont give two craps about the lockscreen.

  • Josh

Don’t know the first thing about jailbreaking!! can’t someone assist

  • Anonymous

can someone tell my what theme is on the iphone in the picture i like how that looks?

  • Anonymous

Perfect, it works for me. Jailbreak with 4.3.3, install WinterBoard within Cydia, then install “Slide to Unlock Killer”, Typophone 4″, “Clock Hide” and “iFile” all from Cydia.

Once you have done this complete the following steps
1 – Settings/Clock hide, enable & ensure that status bar time & show date are off
2 – Settings/Winterboard/Select Themes, Turn on both “Slide to Unlock Killer” & “Typophone 4″

At this point if you turn off your device and turn it back on, it will mostly work, however you’ll see a strange re-fresh behaviour from the “time” on the background of the lock screen (see second image in this post).

    3 – Open iFile & navigate to /private/var/stash/Themes.?????/Typophone 4.theme (where ????? will be some letters & numbers)
4 – Click on the file “style.css” & click edit in the top left hand corner
    5 – Locate the line

    image:url(‘/private/var/mobile/Library/SpringBoard/LockBackground.jpg’);
    change it to:
    background-image:url(‘LockBackground.png’);
    6 – Click Save & Done

When you next turn your device off and on, it should be all working!

Cheers & Good Luck – Steve (tnx to Donnation source for step 4+5)

    Hi,
Thanks for the new jailbreak, im still on 4.0.1 (or something) and been waiting to update my 3gs…I am guess i need to update my iphone to 4.3.3 first and lose my jailbreak apps…

My concern is losing all of my jailbreak apps…i know i can redownload them, but should i make note of my apps so i know which ones to redowload…

    any way around this?

  • http://twitter.com/YoungStingy John Edmunds IV

I’ve updated to this and I find that the springboard locks up a lot when in landscape mode (I have SBrotator installed) but I have the swipe to ….. guestures enabled and can use them even when the springboard is frozen, is anyone else experiencing this?
