Sprint’s HTC Kingdom 4G Android phone detailed

mobile

HTC enthusiast forum 911sniper has gotten its hands on a ROM from the HTC Kingdom, an unannounced Android 2.3.3 smartphone that we now know to be headed to Sprint. We’ve seen the Kingdom in a very blurry image before, but this time several full specs and other details have become available. The device reportedly has a Qualcomm MSM7630 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 768MB of RAM, a 4-inch qHD display, and a camera capable of recording 720p HD video. The leaked ROM also reveals support for 802.11b/g/n and Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network. Sprint has yet to confirm the device’s existence, so we’re not sure exactly when this device will hit the market, but let’s hope it happens soon because it definitely looks like a nice incremental upgrade.

“It definitely looks like a nice incremental upgrade” . . . Upgrade for? Not the Shift, Shift has a keyboard. And we all know what’s replacing the EVO. I really don’t think this phone fits into the line up

      Upgrade for HTC Hero…maybe?

      • Anonymous

Lol my good ole HERO? That was my frist Android phone but im pretty sure they killed off the line when they started the EVO.

Yeah, the EVO 3D clearly has better specs with the MSM8660 and 1 GB of RAM (and 3D for those who care). I guess its just a screen size/weight or price issue… What I’m worried about here is that they made this thing because the EVO 3D has poor battery life.

You think they would undercut their PowerHouse that kept them out of the poor house because of battery life? I think they’re just trying to suppliment their line up and have something for everyone. Kind of like how VZW has an OVERLOAD of android coming in the next month or so

    What a name, Kingdom 4g

    My Wishlist for Holiday Season:
HTC ‘superphone’ for Verizon that includes following: LTE, 2,100mAh battery (or better), Dual-Core 1.5ghz processor, 1gb of ram (or better). 8Gb of internal storage with ability of 64 with SD card, 4.3 qHD screen with 540X960 (or better), NEC, 12mp camera with dual LED flash, 2mp front facing camera, Gingerbread 2.3.4.

Anyone else care to chime in on additions?

    • IamEzio

      normal battery life ?

You have No IDEA what you want…. And I’m sure you mean NFC…not NEC

Chill out there man, just a typo. Yes, I meant Near Field Communication.

That phone would be way too thick and would have to sell at, @ least $400. I guess we’ll get there eventually.

        huh?

12MP camera? No thanks, not unless they improve the size of the sensors, the size of the pixels, and the quality of the lens. More MPs can actually make a camera worse if that’s all you improve.

      Spec whore!

Screen looks narrow? Another way for the manufacturer to cut costs by reducing the overall size of the screen. Worthless for a map program. Worthless for emails in portrait mode. Conclusion- I pass.

lol what? do you even understand what you’re saying?

I thought that the Kingdom was confirmed to be the HTC EVO 3D

  • Deval

Technically this could replace the EVO, and the EVO 3D would be its own standalone product, if it was confirmed. :)

The evo 3d is the htc shooter…… the kingdom is not part of the evo line of phones…. the 4 capacitive buttons don’t have the circles around them…. (those circles are the evo signature)

This seems to be a killer device set to compete with the new droid incredible 2

I love the design… its less squared than the evo

So today thus far we have android handsets announced with Android 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3. Dizzying.

An EVO Mini perhaps? Either way…should be a Solid phone.

This phone sounds like a beast. Hopefully it won’t be too difficult to pop in CM7 (or whatever version is out during release). Anyone have any ideas when this may come out? Summer? Winter? Next year?

  • Somerandomguy

I think your all missing the point, aside from the evo 4g, epic 4g, and evo shift 4g, those are the ONLY good android phones on sprint i think the more choices we have the better, not everyone wants a jumbo sized phone and not everyone cares about the processor if your complaints are about processors simple solution….. BUY A DAMN COMPUTER these are phones still you know not computers even though there pretty close, so stop bashing a phone because it isnt “the best” rather welcome it and if your not on sprint what do you care what phone sprint gets anyways?

  • Shott3r

Blah I freaking hate Sprint. After a long time waiting, I pre-order the Nexus S, only to see these superphones coming out.

So here’s the million-dollar question: do great battery life and the ability to get updates fastest directly from Google outweigh dual-core performance, a qHD screen and perhaps even more insane graphics/flash video performance?

The specs sound nice, and the phone looks great, but its pretty much the same specs as the new BB Bold 9900. Only thing is that the Bold has touch screen AND a qwerty

  • MaagMM

Pretty sad that this phone will be available 6 months before the next iPhone and it will still annihilate Jobsy’s latest toy. “Just available for the holiday 2011 – another phone with 3G! But now, for the 11 of you who not only travel internationally, but also pay the exhorbitant roaming rates abroad, it’s a world phone! It will work on any 3G network!”

Yawn. Supply 4G to the 150 million people in the USA who can use it, not the 20K people who want a “world phone”, dummies.

I’m not an Apple hater, but I used to work there before I left to start my own company, and the Apple I worked for is no longer the Apple of today. Very little hunger, drive, innovation or competitiveness in the handset market. Apple had a huge lead, and many competitors (Samsung, HTC, Motorola) have either passed them or outright blown by them.

I think that Sprint is actually starting to gain market share on Verizon and AT&T

    • http://profiles.google.com/bphoffa Brandon Hoffman

with the EVO, EVO 3D, Nexus S, and now this phone -Sprint pwns all carriers!

  • http://profiles.google.com/alex.ionta Alex Ionta

maybe it’s just to replace the existing EVO since the 3D won’t be fit for everyone. Personally i like the 3D – but i have no use the the actual 3D portion – so maybe just a spec update for the original EVO… I don’t expect the original to stick around long into the 3d hits

  • http://twitter.com/derrickisonline Derrick -Lex-

Finally, a phone from HTC that doesn’t look like an EVO.

  • Anonymous

Interestingly, this could also be a ‘world phone’. That would make this an even sweeter handset!
