Intel intros ‘Ivy Bridge’ processors with 3D transistors

Hardware

Intel recently took the wraps off of its new “Ivy Bridge” platform that includes new 22nm 3D “Tri-Gate” transistors, as opposed to a traditional flat-circuit design. The new transistors will help chips run more efficiently at lower voltages, and Intel says the platform should offer up to a 37% increase in performance compared to its 32nm transistors. Ivy Bridge will make its debut in PCs and servers by the end of this year, Reuters said, although Intel also has plans to use 3D Tri-Gate transistors in mobile chips, too.

Not again! Now Intel will produce Atom processors which are more powerful and less power hungry than ARM chips and then what? Apple will have to switch to Intel again? Another nightmare for Apple aficionados? This time wih their iOS devices though.

Intel and Apple have been in bed for a couple of years. It is only a matter of time before they start using the atom architecture.

Ahhh, old news…how can you post news like this so late, yet when it comes down to minor iOS updates and iPhone 6 rumors you have no issue posting ASAP? I really enjoy reading BGR, and like that it doesn’t run a story on every little thing like Engadget (not that that is a bad thing for Engadget…I just know that when I go on their site I waste hours reading everything…I can’t stop! So I come here…). But…info like this should be reported on as soon as possible
