674,000 Windows Phone devices sold to date, analyst suggests

mobile

Famed Russian technology blogger and analyst, Eldar Murtazin, thinks he has a beat on global Windows Phone sales figures, and the results are grim. Murtazin notes that although the company has shipped 1.5 million handsets worldwide, it has only sold 674,000 to end-users. The article’s author never indicates where his information originates from, but Murtazin has a proven track record when it comes to providing accurate insider information in the mobile space. Selling 674,000 smartphones certainly isn’t anything to to be ashamed of, but we’re not sure it is cause for celebration either.

    Epic failure!
Even the world’s first Android phone HTC G1 could sell more.

Not sure of the correct numbers, but I can honestly say that WP7 is as good as, if not better, than the iOS. Plus a MUCH better notification system, plus a better use of active tiles, or Live Tiles. MUCH nicer. Granted, the apps may not be as nice, ie no TweetBot or Instagram, but I think overall it’s a better OS. And when Mango comes out, good gracious. It’s gonne be nice.

The Live Tiles I think is the primary reason why the estimate sales figures are low. They turn me off to the point of not wanting to even try the phone. I eventually made an effort to look at the available WP7 phones out there because I’m looking to buy a new one and maybe because of my first impression, WP7 are nuttin special.

Every bit as good if you puked all over an iPhone and *then* compared the two. Its a pity but Microsoft is moving themselves to the point of irrelevancy. They have beaten Windows to death, have not came up with anything compelling since XP and have proven just how bloated you can make the same OS become over and over again. Windows 7 now requires a higher end machine to surf the web, to play a game or to open email (yes, TEXT). Shit you need 2GB ram just to boot the OS in a reasonable time.

I’m sorry but Microsoft has lost it. People hated Gates but at least he had the geek in him spill out into Microsoft’s products. Ballmer? He’s just a man without vision trying to rehash the same thing over again expecting success. He has no vision. No “geek” like Gates or even Jobs. Recent articles show the company pouring tons of cash into things like BING and not even breaking even. The ship is sinking. And the more people see what they can do on a simple tablet that is “instant on”, the more they are going to see their Windows desktops as a waste of time and money.

Were you paying attention? There’s plenty of videos and stories of how Windows 7 needs LESS hardware to run than XP. People have taken to installing it on the oldest, slowest hardware they have and it still runs fast and usable. That’s why Windows 7 has been a success unlike Vista (even if they’re basically the same).

Is probably true because Microsoft did not deliver what the world was expecting which was a windows 7 or any of the windows Operating Systems look alike. But instead dropped something……

Balmer: It’s okay… we have Nokia and RIM… the Bing will assimilate all… resistance is futile.

This guy is nuts….. He’s afraid of his stock portfolio dipping…. so he will hype anything up to inflate his ego and portfolio…. but what happens when the dollar is devalued so far it wont matter if you have 1s or 100s.

This is complete fail. iPhones and Androids sell as many phones in less than a week

Its funny how people expect Nokia to save WP7.

    1. Nokia fails in bringing 3 platforms, all dead now.
    2. Microsoft brings another failed platform.
    3. ???
    4. Profit!
