HTC Kingdom and Rider Android phones spotted

mobile

Here are a couple of leaks to kick off your Friday morning: the HTC Kingdom (left) and the HTC Rider (right) were both spotted and photographed recently by 911Sniper. Specs for the Rider and the Kingdom are slim, so we can only report on what’s apparent in the images. Both phones clearly run Android and appear to have 4.3-inch 960 x 540 qHD displays, although even that’s not confirmed. The circles around the main icons on the Rider remind us of an EVO device (perhaps this is Sprint bound?), and we definitely dig the red exterior. We doubt this is the last we’ll see of both phones, so we’re looking forward to clearer shots and more spec leaks in the coming weeks and months.

I love how there always the worst pictures ever… shot with a damn toy camera or what ?

You can always tell when phones are getting closer to a release as the pics get better. These must be a ways out yet…

The earth-shattering innovation evident in these phones from Taiwan are mind-boggling. I’ve never seen anything like it.

    • mikeD

Kinda like the phones coming out of Cupertino?

Hell yeah, that’s what I’m talking about! Apple Leads, HTC/Taiwan (Samsung/Korea) follows. Amen bro.

Since around a year ago, Apple hasn’t led in anything smart phone related. Ok, maybe in its retina display, but that is where it ends. Catch some coffee…

@Mr. Hills. I totally follow you, bro. I agree that everyone is still trying to catch up to far superior American design.

I think you meant phone.. lol Cupertino does believe in plural.. or choice

Kind of like how the iphone 1 is that much different than the iphone 4…

Oh. I forgot, it comes in white now.

      Groundbreaking stuff there.

HTC keeps making hits. Will they ever be slowed down? How can Apple even compete with this Constant wave of anDroid innovation.

I think that’s the first time you said android.
      Single tear.

Will these phones be able to support iOS 5 when released? We all know they would function better that way.

HTC is going to kill Motorola, HTC had sales of 9.7 million, moto had a measly 4.1 million. HTC grew 192 percent y-o-y, Motorola lesser than 100 percent.

Two words to add: Locked Bootloader.. eff Moto

    • Jamma

That is really funny RIM gave profit warning about 13-14.2 million phone sales and everyone thinks RIM should close up shop…HTC?

  • Scott

I love how these “spy shots” are always available a couple months before the phone comes out. Are we supposed to really believe that HTC doesn’t want a buzz created before a phone is released.

I say 90% or more of these kind of pictures are HTC leaking them.

This Android market is ridiculous…buy a phone today tomorrow it’s outdated. Too many companies and there uncle make these phones. Google needs to put a stop to this.
Hate Rim or Apple but at least your phone is not outdated by the time you leave the stores.
Let’s not talk about updates and compatibility.

    • Jhlfree

Yeah right! Buy Apple or Blackberry and your phone is/was obsolete two to six months before you were able to purchas it in a fanboy store… thanks to Android devices.

Your argument doesn’t make any sense. It’s stupid to only compare an iphone to upcoming iphones. Buy an Iphone or Blackberry today and that’s already outdated by the onslaught of Android phones. Don’t be jealous that you’ll have to wait til Sept for your Iphone to match the specs of current Android phones.

How is my Epic 4G outdated?

All HTC phones look like the same tired thing

    • Mrwirez

And the iphone looks different from all other iphones?
      i-dent-a-phone.

      • Yes_iHave_a_iPhone

        Bravo

      • Proexodus

It only becomes an issue where they keep releasing these phones at a rapid rate during the year. iPhone has only been released 4 times since 2007. HTC? Like 20 at least I think…

    • wtf

WAAAAHHH all toasters look the same! How would you want something that has a full touch screen, camera, speaker, ear piece, etc to look?

  • TheMuffinMan612

I really hope the one on the left is Sprint-bound, maybe even just a re-design of the EVO 3d. I really want to get it, but the 3d is uglier than the Evo 4g. On top of that the sensation is amazing looking, especially with it’s contoured glass, which makes it an even bigger kick in the face that Sprint customer’s get stuck with the 3d. Seeing as how Sprint has no Samoled windows phones (Oh at&t focus, how I want you…) if the ‘Rider’ comes to Sprint, i’ll be a day one adopter.

Thinking the one on hte right would be Sprints version of an Incredible.

My friend just got a HTC Android based G2 from T-Mobile (because T-Mobile gave them away free on Valentine’s Day). She gave it to me to play with since the ringer wouldn’t ring even though the sound was clearly on (eventually pulling out the battery and rebooting solved the problem).

The phone, however, was complete junk. The build quality was horrible, which is strange since at least one review online claims the build quality is very good. It is made out of cheap plastic, and feels flimsy. Motorola is the same. It’s phones love to crack right where its power cords plug into the phone.

There might be some quality built Android phones out there, but HTC isn’t building them. She had the Nexus One as well (also build by HTC). I will admit it I am an Apple guy and love my iPhone. I understand some people, however, prefer the Android OS (after using a few from friends and family, I honestly can’t see why(but to each their own)).

By comparison though, these phones are complete garbage in terms of the quality of material and assembly. The iPhones have been made with high quality aluminums and gorilla glass. They feel solid in the hand. It isn’t debatable that these HTC phones are composed of cheap materials and made very poorly compared to the iPhone. In the family, we still have an original iPhone being used.
