HBO Go now available for iOS, brings over 1,400 shows with it

mobile

HBO has finally released their much-awaited HBO Go iOS app for iPhone and iPad devices. The app gives HBO subscribers free access to over 1,400 shows in addition to many sports event and full-length films. What’s great is that the app offers up all of HBO’s quality programming — True Blood, The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Boardwalk Empire, and more — and the app streams over 3G in addition to Wi-Fi. It’s available now in the App Store if you want to get your Nucky Thompson on.

I’d say give them a break, as none of them use Android, or show a huge interest in the ecosystem, but they got a Press release for this, so there’s really no excuse.

the source link actually takes you to an apple post from June of 2008-”Go to College, Buy a Mac, Get a Free iPod” smh

Have you all ever heard of this “android” thing? It’s kind of big, google it.

  • Androidsucks

Guess you guys don’t know android sucks an no one cares about it. Go back to your shitty half ass apps

App was released on Android before iOS, sloppy seconds for you. Learn it.

  • http://twitter.com/WileECyte Brian Hauber

So it appears that it won’t work on older Gen 2 iPod Touch.

cool. will this let you pause shows and finish them later? i have the xfinity app from comcast which gives me access to all the same shows but i have to watch the episode all at once or I’ll lose my place.

I have no sound on my iPad 1. Anyone else have this issue?

      mine works great…

  • Rock Me Like A Hurricane

Not one mention of Android. I’m sure that doesn’t suprise anyone here. This being an Apple site and all. I can’t wait for the next round of Iphone 5 rumors. You know their coming!!!

Holy crap dude… It was released for iOS AND ANDROID… WOW… Seriously…

  • http://twitter.com/mattsinopoli mattsinopoli

I wonder why they didn’t release this on android oh well.

    • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR6HpRLyzMY Walter Sobchak

      They did

    • http://profiles.google.com/booboolala2000 Patrick Crumpler

They did, it was on Android before iOS. Sorry for the sloppy seconds.

  • http://twitter.com/wadechris Chris Wade

So is this intentional snubbing, or did you just not read the press release close enough?

  • Joel

No body cares about Android, that’s why.

    • Anonymous

No one? Really? Hmmmm Wonder why its #1 worldwide and in the US…

      Oh well…

      • Joel

Correction, iOS is number one in the USA. Second it’s because they are dirt cheap and every 10 year old owns an android. So like previously stated no one cares about android except for fanboys, like yourself.

      • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR6HpRLyzMY Walter Sobchak

You can’t make a blanket statement like “no one cares” and immediately follow it with “except for fanboys”. It makes you sound like an idiot.
        You could say “most people”.

      • http://profiles.google.com/booboolala2000 Patrick Crumpler

Wrong. Android is number one in US too. Hows that iPad2 not a recall doing for you?

      • Joel

Patrick, you are wrong. There are 37.9 million iOS users; whereas Android has a user base of 23.8 million in the United States. You lose.

We just got trolled so hard!
    Well played Geller, well played.

Pretty gay that Time Warner isn’t supporting this app. They also haven’t set up support for espn3 on xbox. TWC can be such bullshit sometimes. How is it that they get all high and mighty about their right and the consumers right to access shows on their iPad app but then deny us similar content when it is offered by someone else. Such hypocritical crap. They really piss me off.

AWww. No LTE for Apple, choppy streaming ensues. Plus that shit tiny screen. Corn in my shit looks better than anything on that tiny screen. I’ll be enjoying this while traveling with my TBolt.

    • KKFpleAse

Dude get over yourself. LTE is’nt really covering much of the country. It hasn’t matured yet. Although we need and appreciate the stupid people (android users) willing to try the technology first so apple can sweep in and dominate. So enjoy your tiny little win for now but when daddy comes along and spanks you around you’ll understand.

    • KKFpleAse

Still waiting for that firmware update on your thunderbolt? Or how is that 4G network outage going, NATIONWIDE. bad timing man.

  • Bearswamp

Can’t find a single piece of content on HBO GO that will stream the video to apple tv via airplay

Downloaded and used it last night for my iPad, been looking for ages for the 1st season of Soprano’s, worked fine.

Force closed on Galaxy Tab WiFi before I could log-on. Tried it several times and then uninstalled. Anyone else having trouble with this on G-Tab?

  • Anonymous

This app works well on both my Android Galaxy and iPad over WiFi. Good job.

  • KKFpleAse

I just want to pay for a subscription directly to HBO already. Why do I need cable to have this app. They would make so much more money! I feel like cable companies don’t innovate anymore.

Love HBO Go so far, Directv subscriber here. I am having issues on my Macbook though, when I go fullscreen the “press esc to exit full screen” message stays on screen. Anyone having issues with that or have a fix?
