Verizon's 4G LTE network back online

mobile

Moments ago, Verizon Wireless confirmed that its 4G LTE network is back online. The network went down early yesterday morning and remained out of service for more than 24-hours in some areas. We’ve confirmed a signal with our Samsung DROID Charge here in New York City as well. Verizon has yet to say whether or not it will issue any sort of rebate to customers affected by the outage.

Well there is 200 dead this morning in the southeast due to tornados… Maybe that had something to do with it?

4G is a go here in Downtown SF. It came back up around 9pm last night

So according to the speedtest above, the fabled LTE is 11kbps down and 5kbps up?
I’m glad i’m still on AT&T then since my miserable 3G runs on average 1.5mbps down and 1mbps up……

Learn to read. Those are “M”s, not “k”s.

you know what? shoot me. It looked like a K to me from the size of the pic. my bad ^_^

Look at it this way… If LTE was only producing 11kbps downloads, BGR would have been all over it with an article about how HSPA+ on the iPhone is far better.

Yeah, but then again i also figured that maybe it’s with all the phones going back onto the LTE network forcing it to get a hiccup, but yeah, I think BGR and every other tech site would be all over it like a hungry hobo at an all you can eat buffet.

I’m happy in Nashville! I just checked my Thunderbolt and getting 33.35Mbps on the download and 7.04 on the upload. Even if there were more user and that was cut in half it is way better then I was used to previously.

Nice that Verizon only communicates via Facebook and Twitter now. It makes their updates seem complete when they’re entirely lacking.

I didn’t have 3g/4g with a sketchy 1x. 75% of the day yesterday my Tbolt was useless. It’s back up now, and I did recieved a $20 credit for the 4g outage. Detroit, Michigan

    • Cer

How did you get the $20 credit?

Sure they’ll issue a rebate. They’ll reimburse you a pro-rated amount of the $0/month premium you’re paying for 4G service right now. Don’t forget to check your next bill.

3G was down yesterday as well. Most of us were on 1x.

You pay $30 for unlimited data. It was a down for 1 day.. So would you like $1 credited towards your account?

  • Matthew

I wonder what all these HSPA+ LTE speeds will be in a year or two. When more people are on these networks how will the speed be then.

    • Yes_iHave_a_iPhone

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution… So in a year or two the speeds will be increasing.. Not going down

  • Anonymous

Nothing like half a battery at 10:19 AM.

T-Mobile here in Houston is not far off of those speeds. Usually I see tests between 6mbps and 9Mbps. I have yet to run one that came in any less on the G2x. On the MyTouch 4g I saw between 3 and 8Mbps. Are they really that close to LTE speeds?

    • Downsouth821

Yes they are that far off. Im in sugarland and i average about 14Mbps.. I live in Clear lake on the very edge of 4G and I average 7 Mbps, and thats with a couple bars so i would say that Tmobile has more work to do.

    Not bad!

In the results shown above, if you multiply the ping x15, subtract 11.1 from the download, and subtract 5.30 from the upload, you arrive at typical NYC AT&T 3G, er, “3G” results using the same app.

LTE is back down again. Confirmed it with Verizon this afternoon. I had some 4G on my TBolt at around 11am Pacific, but by noon I was back to 1X, where I remain, in the center of LA.

  • Dave Brown

Like hell it’s back online. As of late this afternoon (~19:00) in Detroit at the airport (DTW) it was still shit.
