Samsung Galaxy S II hits the market, will land in 120 countries

mobile

Today’s one of those days when we wish we lived in South Korea. Samsung’s hot new Galaxy S II — which packs a dual-core Orion CPU, an 8 megapixel camera, a 4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen, and more — hits the South Korean market on all three of the country’s wireless carriers. Samsung shipped more than 14 million of the first generation Galaxy S devices, and it hopes to sell at least 10 million Galaxy S II handsets as the device makes its debut in 120 countries and on 140 different carriers in the coming months. “We expect sales to be as good as the Galaxy S,” Shin Jong-Kyun, president of Samsung Mobile, told AFP. Unfortunately there’s no word if or when the Galaxy S II will hit the United States, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it pop up given that the first generation was offered by each of the big-four carriers.

Sprint, please. Also, omit the stupid keyboard. This thing is thin and sexy as a slab.

saw the full review on engadget and its a SUPER nice phone… now lets see if samsung doesn’t drop the ball again like they did with all there other smartphones and not give them updates…. EVER…

My captivate always gets updated…its a simple thing called “do it yourself.” All i care about is whether or not the USA version(s) will have an unlocked bootloader. If thats the case (which all signs say it will), the GS2 is my next phone.

Blame the carriers for adding all their bloatware and not testing it fast enough. Samsung pumped out their updates in a very timely manner. They are the only manufacturer that has pushed out 2.3.3 to an existing phone so far.

The Nexus S doesn’t count. Google has more control over that phone than Samsung does, they really just make the hardware.

They better sell a lot of these phones because they are going to need a lot of money to pay for a lot of lawyer fees for all the Apple law suits…

I guess you don’t realize that Samsung is the largest company in the world for total revenue? Apple probably makes a single digit percentage point compared to Samsung as a whole. What’s funny is that I hate them both, but I want an LTE version of this NOW! lol

I am not do sure about buying another Samsung product. This device surely sounds great but they have not impressed me with their past products.

  • heyhey

can’t wait to see all the android punks spending 200$ on this only to start crying over the lack of updates…..i just love the drama…

At least we can get this international phone to work on AT&T and not be forced to get a carrier branded version. Samsung pushed out Froyo to Europe and the unlocked phones last year. It was the stupid US carriers fault for delaying the Galaxy S updates… hell, the European Galaxy S has had Gingerbread for over a week now, not even Moto or HTC has upgraded any existing phones to Gingerbread yet.

Samsung has stepped up their game in the last year.

That is EXACTLY what I plan on doing since it supports AT&T bands.

After how poorly they handled the Galaxy S 1 here, I would NEVER buy a Samsung phone, no matter how nice it is. I’ll take an HTC any day!

Evidently you don’t like to read other peoples comments before posting…

Agree, after owning the vibrant, I wont be buying anymore samsung unless they changed their way on how they handle updating and stuff.

I can’t get over how they completely ripped off the design of the iPhone 3GS. That said, this is looking like the best android product to date.
