Let me guess everybody will hate cuz of no LTE

    • JL

      pretty much…

    • Empreality

Everyone will eventually see that the trade off will be a better battery life.

      • Cer

Makes no sense. Bigger screen, 32gb microsd card, and you can toggle 4G. All for just $50 more.

      • http://twitter.com/ROM837JP ROM837

exactly. batter life trumps all. i don’t care for an unnecessary increase in download speed and i don’t exactly care for a phone that weighs 10 pounds. the incredible fits my bill perfectly

    • Rock

      LTE not available everywhere.

  • Anonymous

Holy shit Norm, it’s DROID! I just got some cargo pants with twice the number of pockets to accommodate all my Android phones and tablets.

    • http://www.droiddoes.com/ Norm

This is the essential 3G DROID to have. You can’t go wrong with it.

  • Anonymous

Looks like an excellent phone for those without LTE. I wonder how the battery life will be compared to the Bolt, cuz my TB’s battery sucks.

    • Steinbeano

Turn the 4G off and the TB lasts a helluva lot longer. Then you have nothing to complain about… except that you can’t see the indicator light…

      • Cer

This is true about the indicator light. It is a bit hard to see; they shouldn’t have put it behind the speaker grille.

      • Jeremiah

The indicator light on my G2 is also behind the speaker grill, and I have no problems seeing it.

      • Cer

If you’re looking at it straight on, sure, but how about when it’s on a
table off to the side, in comparison to other HTC phones whose indicator
lights are outside the grille? Big difference.

Anyone know how to slip a LTE chip in that bad boy? When will VZ announce a non-gigantic/horrible battery life LTE phone? I might get it anyway…my Storm1 is dying…

    • DXr

Sofonda – i am also wondering about a non-gigantic phone!! i currently have the DX and its slightly larger than comfortable…id have to say, i might forgo the 4g for a sizable 3g phone.

      • Ryan

        if u have a droid x then u dont have 4g…. :p

    • Anonymous

I have news for you, that Storm 1 died two years ago. Let it R.I.P.

      May all of R.I.M. R.I.P.

      • Sebastianraven

I just tried the Monaco and I never thought Id go back to BB. That was one Amazing device.

  • Anonymous

Oh, I thought Android 2.3.3 and 1.2GHz dual core processor are the new standard. I also thought the Droid Incredible was a flagship device. Then why doesn’t it come with the blazing fast LTE(4G)? Can’t wait to see what the Evo 3D and Sensation 4G fans have to say about this one.

    • Anonymous

Because 1.2GHz is going to be so much faster than 1GHz. These are smartphones, people, not PCs. How about focusing more on battery efficiency?

    • Anonymous

Of course, Engadget is biased, they probably get more money from Apple and Microsoft than BGR, allegedly. To answer your question, probably because, since it’s a global phone, the standard globally is GSM 3G; they would have to either, include two separate SIM slots for 3G and 4G LTE, respectively. Which, of course would mean three network radios (CDMA, GSM 3G, 4G LTE) since, all use different bandwidths. Or, find a way to integrate, somehow, GSM 3G and 4G LTE radios; probably not cost effective. Moreover, if they actually were to offer a truly Global (CDMA, GSM 3G, 4G LTE) super phone, think of the resell profits they would never see; but, we would.

    • rock

all these companies that are using google android are very slow with update

  • Trophynuts

i’m not hating at all because of no LTE. I could care less about LTE right now or even for the next year. I’ve been eying this phone for months and will probably get it in the summer.

  • Toast282

Not much difference between this and the original Droid Incredible…

    • DXr

just a bigger screen, better processor, front camera, and hotspot…not much difference….shaya right!

      • http://twitter.com/WhyCantMyPhone Neal Elward

It certainly is a far better phone, but the spec sheet reads very similarly if you do not know what to look for. I will say that this phone is far from “incredible.” I would call it the Droid Incremental. Without Gingerbread, it’s the Droid WithPotential (ButNoGuarantees).

I think it is a red flag about future updates when a device does not ship with the latest OS 6 months after it is released on a device. Gingerbread is not exactly a breakthrough update, but the next update might be, and I think that you’re lucky to see more than one major update on most Android phones.

      • plim123

the original incredible has the same 3g hotspot, and the same 1ghz qualcomm snapdragon processor.

so add a front camera, and 0.3″ to the screen.

        droid incremental is right.

      • Slowburnaz

Actually… the processor in this one is the same that’s in the ThunderBolt.

  • http://twitter.com/MrKow84 Kyle

    pass

  • ER

No dual-core, no LTE. Yawn. Although I do like the saturation on the SLCD, granted it still isn’t super AMOLED.

  • Steel

Just go get the original Incredible at Walmart for ~$30. All you lose is the front facing camera. Who is paying 2 bills for a new phone w/o a dual-core processor or 4g capability?

  • Dave

Wow I never knew this phone was coming to Verizion /s

  • Anonymous

Isn’t this the non 4G version of the Thunderbolt which is a 4G version of the Desire HD which came out last October ?

  • http://profiles.google.com/mikegewinner Mike Gewinner

    WTF, NO 4G.

  • Anonymous

God you people that bitch about no lte no 4g are so dumb. What good is it if it’s sprinkled around here and there? Grow up

    • Cer

Sprinkled? It’s in tons of major metropolitan areas: LA, SF, Phoenix, Denver, DC, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans, Detroit, St. Louis, Vegas, New York City, Cleveland, Philly, Nashville, etc.

That’s more than a sprinkling. Look at a map next time.

      • Anonymous

Your point went nowhere. The fact still remains that it’s not spread out enough to be used by everyone. Millions of people live in more then just major metropolitan areas and it’s not even available in all major city’s yet. Maybe you should check a map and do a little research. Sprints 4g has been out for sometime now and still not available in major city’s.

      • Cer

Ok, you win, there’s no reason to have 4G on a phone. Unless you’re one of
the tens of millions of people that are covered by a 4G network.

  • Anonymous

I really don’t see them selling that many of these phones. No 4g and last years tech.

  • incredible 2

Posting this from one now, the battery life is pretty good so far, and its really smooth operation as expected

    • http://twitter.com/yyandrew Andrew Yang

You can’t really say how the battery life is until you’ve used it extensively for a few days, at least, if not, a week or so. Care to report back later when you have better news, Mr. Cool Guy?

  • Genesigala

Have one early fathers day present from my wife not quite a wk old first smart phone its fast internet connects fine not 4 g but I’m quite happy so far so many apps to choose from Google search is great the key pad takes getting used to because its virtual no real key pad keys are soft music ok volume could be louder calls are quite loud in earpiece camera takes good photos email in sync with all msg apps played all day with phone used net took.
