Motorola DROID X2 press images leaked

mobile

We’ve already seen leaked hands-on photos of Verizon’s upcoming DROID X2 smartphone, but now the official press images have been spilled, too. There doesn’t appear to be many aesthetic differences from the original DROID X, aside from the DROID^2 logo painted on the back. There are a few spec boosts, though, including a rumored 1.2GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and a higher resolution qHD display. The DROID X2 is expected to launch running Android 2.2 although we hope there are plans for an early Android 2.3 software update. According to earlier rumors, the DROID X2 will cost $199.99 with a new two year contract, but Verizon Wireless has yet to leak a launch date.

      • Spotmark

I agree. The Droid X is one of the ugliest phones on the market.

      • Steve Hillshire

Definitely agree! Any phone that doesn’t have a metal ring around the outside that you can touch and reduce the signal is just utter rubbish!!!!!

        What’s an ass phone?

For one reason or another, Samsung has announced that they will NOT be copying this phone.

    • QuickWeevil

      Ha! I lol’d!

  • @j_nathaniel

Verizon has something I have an interest in…surprise. It’s about time.

But the real question is.. is the bootloader still locked?

Last I checked, this phone was made by Motorola. “Yes” would be a safe assumption, don’t you think?

Well im still using my OG motorola droid which never was locked and was without blur nonsense.. Looks like samsung or htc will be my upgrade, but one can dream

Believe me, when it comes to Motorola, I dream the exact same thing. I look at the Droid Bionic, imagine it with an unlocked Bootloader, and just drool at what Cyanogenmod could do with it.

But what phone has had an unlocked bootloader since that first Droid? Hell, what Moto phone hasn’t had Blur? I know that I saw some rumors claiming the Droid 3 would be a return to form. I hope it is. I mean, I also hope it’s got a higher res screen and 4G, but even if it doesn’t have any of those things, it’d be nice to know that someone, somewhere is making an insane piece of hardware with the latest version of Android on it.

        I’m a dreamer, too.

I’m call bluff, atleast for the red eye, Droid 2 even had a new droid eye, i doubt the device is exactly the same.

planning on moving to seattle, may move to verizon as well. I’ve never had an android phone; personally, it reminds me of symbian in its look. im not saying it’s like symbian, not at all. but, i fell you should try all os’. all of this unnecessary rambling aside, this phone does look very nice.

That has got to be the ugliest phone I have seen!!

  • Calvin Williams

    Where’s the front camera?

    • Tedkord

      Won’t do you much good with 3G – especially Verizon’s 3G.

      • Anonymous

Wifi? Not as flexible as having 4g but still useful.

  • Tedkord

After taking away your choice of 1 or 2 year contracts, Verizon is now giving you the choice of either 4G or dual-core. You can’t have both!

  • Matthew

The DROID X2 will cost $199.99 with a new two year contract. The Samsung Charge cost $300 and the Thunderbolt for $250, why are the LTE phones more…. hmmmm. Well im glad i ditched Verizon for a cheaper network. =)

If you don’t have 4G in your area, that’d be a solid phone, especially if the talk of upgraded internals are accurate. I’m still holding out for dual-core, qHD, and 4G. I guess it’s a good thing that my contract isn’t up for another year.

  • Generatione

    2.2???

    • Douche

      Ya that’s fragDROID.

  • cmcracerguy

    • Steve Hillshire

They are just following Apple’s footsteps for the first 3 generations of iPhone…
