LG outs Optimus Big smartphone with 4.3-inch NOVA Display

mobile

LG officially announced the long rumored LG Optimus Big on Friday, making it the Korean firm’s largest Android smartphone to date. The Optimus Big runs Android 2.2, sports a 4.3-inch Nova Display, and is equipped with an HDMI-out port, a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and a 1,500 mAh battery. The NOVA Display is the star of that spec sheet though, and we loved the rich colors and deep blacks when we first saw it on the Optimus Black. The Optimus Big will make its debut on Korea’s LG U+ on April 28th and there’s no word if this beast will swim itself to the United States — but we’d welcome it with open arms if it did.

Check the PocketNow link. It is supposedly dual-core.

It’s a bit surprising they wouldn’t put a dual-core chip in this thing.

I like how the UI in that screenshot looks like TouchWiz. That should be enough to let LG in on the Samsung-Apple party that’s going on right now.

Hmmm. 4.3 inch nova display. Not a bad offering from LG. Just put a dual core in it and change the name.cause the name sounds retarded then it would be perfect

I liked the first name “Big Thin”…the LGBT phone. Perhaps a specific market, but still awesome :-)

      Read TFA
The LG Optimus Big (aka LG-LU6800) is running Android 2.2 Froyo and sports a 4.3-inch NOVA display — the NOVA is also present on the Optimus Black with very high brightness levels — 1GHz dual-core CPU, 16GB memory, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and a five-megapixel camera with auto-focus, all powered by a 1,500mAh battery. Adding also an HDMI port, the LG Optimus big is available in two color flavors: white and black.

Looks like Samsung’s UI which looks like Apple’s UI. Lawsuit in 3…2…1…

For an Android phone, the UI screen shot looks nice and clean. *cough lawsuit*

If i was going big, I would definitely choose this over the Droid X2. Nice looking phone.

Isn’t nova Spanish for no go?

    • Anonymous

      That would be “no va”.

Which is why the Chevy Nova didn’t market well in mejico.

  • Sean76

Seriously, between Samsung, and LG….Can’t u guys think up your own UI. Now I know why Apple sues everybody.

Wonder if the screen will be qHD. Also the 5 megapixel camera now is kinda a disappointment.

    • Anonymous

Why would you want the worse images that come with higher megapixels in small sensors?
