Final Fantasy III now available for iPad

Gaming

If you’re looking for a reason to call out sick on Friday, here it is. On Thursday Square Enix followed up its March launch of Final Fantasy III for the iPhone by releasing a new iPad version. We’ve been playing the iPhone version for a while and appreciate the crisp 3D graphics and easy controls. Plus, you’re guaranteed to get more than just a few hours of game play out of this epic title that first made its debut in 1990 — before being relaunched on the Nintendo DS in 2006. Square Enix promises new and improved 3D visuals and story sequences on the iPad, quicker browsing through monster bestiary and other game records, and new visual designs for Job Mastery cards. The user interface has also been revamped to take advantage of the iPad’s larger display. There’s a reason we have a few Sumolounge beanbag chairs in our office… and this game is it.

This comment doesn’t even make sense… Android phones have bigger screens and faster processors. Sure, it has a shitty game catalog, but that doesn’t have any effect on how a game would play on the device.

I doubt that will ever happen. Final Fantasy VII is their crown jewel. I’d be happy if they ported over Final Fantasy Tactics though

Final Fantasy nerds unite! Final Fantasy Fact!

Unless you played this game on the Nintendo DS or had an import from Japan, you’ve never played it before. This game, along with Final Fantasy 4, and 5 was never released by Squaresoft in the US for the NES. FF3,FF4,FF5 only came out for the Famicom (Japan’s NES) in Japan. Only Final Fantasy 1 and 2 came out on the NES and then skipped Japan’s 3, 4, 5. Japan’s Final Fantasy 6 was released in the US as Final Fantasy 3 for the SNES. Then they continued with the numbering system for the franchise from then on.

I played the game for my DS and it was superb! Great rehash of the original game! =)

      No, that’s not right.
FF2 and FF3 didn’t originally come to the US in the NES. What was released back then as FF2 for the SNES was what people in Japan know as FF4. FF5 was skipped as well, and what we originally knew as FF3 for the SNES was released in Japan as FF6. By FF7 they just decided to keep the numbering consistent.
FF2 has been re-released a few times, for the GBA, and the PSX (and the WonderSwan in Japan). FF3 was only available for the DS and now for iPad and iPhone. I would love to see it on Android as well, but already played it in the DS. FF5 is available also in PSX and GBA, but hasn’t received any special treatment as the other re-releases.

Apple has proven with the iOS that it can outsell portable gaming. Android is not quite there yet, plus every game i have on Android that is the same on my iPhone…..the iOS versions always run better and less buggy!!
