Samsung Galaxy S II gets first, beige commercial [video]

mobile

Samsung is starting to advertise its new flagship Android smartphone, the Galaxy S II. In its first commercial spot, the Galaxy S II’s screen is portrayed as being so realistic, you are compelled to drown it in a tank of water… or something like that. The twenty-one second spot pimps the phone’s Super AMOLED Plus prowess, albeit in a rather boring fashion. Regardless, if you’re interested in seeing the G-rated commercial it’s waiting for you after the break.

I see this not ending very well for people who purchase this phone.

Why couldn’t they have written in the little girl’s mom/dad/older sibling run in and stop her before the phone hit the water? Are actors THAT expensive??

This is a very odd way to advertise an electronic device.

The phone doesn’t fizzle, the girl isn’t shocked…. and yet they have this huge “windows 7 esque” styled text saying the phone isn’t waterproof…

Im gunna do this and sue them for damaging my phone.

    Well that was odd.

Did they just dump their own product in water as a way to say “down the drain”? wow!

Its clearly a fish bowl WITH FISH IN IT, not a toilet d^mba$$

A fish bowl? OMG! I didn’t notice that!! Holy shit thank you soooooo much! YOU sir, are the true dumbass!

Wow! Who green lighted this? I understand fine print in commericals like “dramaticized” or “screen actions simulated” but if you have to put in giant letters ‘do not do this with your phone’ you probably shouldn’t put out the commercial. lol

I can see it now, a great big sticker on each box that says not waterproof.

  • Mr Koopaling 1

Ok people, if you are that stupid to think its ok to throw your phone in the water, you shouldnt be buying a smart phone in the first place! DUUHHHH! This phone actually look great.

Better than “If you don’t have an iPhone… you don’t have an iPhone”.

Any advertising and marketing is better than any apple advertising and marketing. I mean, have you seen a company worse at marketing than apple? You’re right dear fellow goofan (aka apple hater)…

      • Anonymous

Apple is usually very good at marketing but their latest campaign is just… terrible. It’s shamelessly deceitful and smug to a fault.

I’m not a “goofan”. You seem to have a bad case of “douche”. You should get it checked.

      • Allen Walker

I think there’s a cream for that available at Starbucks

      • Andrew

        Goofan,

I am a psychology student. Could I perhaps study/interview you. It would be very helpful for a paper about delusional and insane people on the internet.

an odd way to advertise people should think of it while buying it

  • markiz

I don’t see nobody complaining how samsung lies, and that this little girl is not actually a real world customer? I quess this means this is legit?

    • Anonymous

In the minds of us goofans (aka apple haters) no company associated with google lies and if they do, we are sure they are justified. Of course as opposed to apple who lies and lies and lies, but we don’t consider their lies justified because they are not googles friend.

    Fantastic phone, shit ad.

  • Anonymous

I think this is an ad with limited…like none…lifetime.

How strange anyone would have approved it.

  • MGN

can we try that at home?

  • Googoobajoo

Geez kid, not only are you dropping your parent’s phone into the fish bowl, you’re also trying to put a Saltwater fish in with freshwater fish. Silly Girl.

  • Matthew

that was a stupid commercial, “really the phone is not waterproof” omg i didn’t know that until the bold print said it was not waterproof….so stupid, good one samsung marketing.

  • Andrew

This is an advertisement. I’m sorry, but in my vocabulary I call this a piece of dung. What a pointless article.

Don’t make a commercial with your device in water if its not water-proof
