ITC staff: Siding with HTC and Nokia in Apple lawsuit is best for public

According to Bloomberg, a staff lawyer with the United States International Trade Commission (U.S. ITC) named Erin Joffre has recommended, on behalf of the public, that the ITC side with HTC and Nokia in a patent battle with Apple. HTC and Nokia have been locked in back-and-forth legal battles with Apple over the past two years, but this suit is particularly important. Apple filed the complaint on March 2nd, 2010 when it alleged that HTC was infringing on 20 of its patents related to both hardware and software technologies. The Cupertino based firm has urged the U.S. ITC to ban HTC’s Android smartphones from being imported into the United States, and it wants several of Nokia’s devices to be stopped at the border, too. In order for such a ban to take place, Administrative Law Judge Carl Charneski would have to side with Apple, and then suggest to another board that such an action be taken. Charneski will render his decision on August 5th.

      Yup, and now this whole samsung thing is ridiculous. Does touchwiz look like iOS, slightly. But thats how a phone looks, they have icons and such. But once you leave the app drawer and go to the homescreens on Android, it can be completely different. Apple doesn’t have widgets, or live wallpapers, or scrolling wallpapers, or a long-press to add widgets, etc. Apple and MS feel threatened so all they can do is sue, screw Apple.

    We at the goofan (aka apple hater) nation research apparatus have it from good sources that the itc will in fact recommend that apple close completely. Something that would make our lives complete at the goofan (aka apple hater) nation. We would be a little bored because we would have to find someone else to hate, or blame for all the problems in the world, but we love having that problem.

    Oh and we love having one less American company to worry about in our quest to make sure all product be designed and manufactured in Asia.

    I find it interesting that an ITC employee would side with two companies outside the country. While I’m all for keeping it fair and honest in terms for the general publics interest, I am leery if certain lobbyists are involved in the swaying influence that would be perceived as the best interest for “all.” Just sayin’…
