iPhone 5 will enter production in September, analyst claims

mobile

Apple’s next-generation iPhone may launch even later than September this year, as has previously been rumored on numerous occasions. Apple has stuck to a summer launch for each new iPhone model released thus far, but the February introduction of Verizon Wireless’ iPhone 4 and the imminent release of the white iPhone 4 do suggest Apple may deviate from its previous schedule. Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo cited supply chain checks in a note to investors on Monday, in which he suggests Apple’s iPhone 5 won’t enter mass production until September. This would make a September release highly unlikely, and would instead mean the new smartphone might launch in October or later. Ming-Chi also reiterates earlier rumors that the iPhone 5 will be an incremental update, and will feature Apple’s new A5 processor, an 8-megapixel camera and a Qualcomm radio like the one found in Verizon Wireless’ iPhone 4. Industry watcher DigiTimes recently issued a report calling any iPhone 5 manufacturing timelines to this point “baseless,” claiming Apple has not yet discussed the device or any production timing with its manufacturing partners.

  • DRH

    Pointless.

  • KCRic

Holy sh!t!! It really is last week! Hey Zach, I heard from a source I can’t name that works somewhere (they won’t tell me) that the iPhone 9000 will be in production in August. Hang on, let me Photosho…. I mean get you a picture of the concept model.

  • 1eyebandit

Every week BGR waste a post about another source saying the iphone is due at a particular date. WHO THE F**K CARESSSS!!!

    • Anonymous

YOU DO! You keep reading them for @#$%’s sake!!!

      • Johnfasd

exactly very well. its a freaking mobile tech site I don’t know what the F@#$K they expect. trust me they ones that are all worked up about care the most and comment the most about why there are such posts.

  • serpentor

BGR you have enough “analyst claims” posts to start a separate blog.

    • Anonymous

      LOL

  • George Riddick

In other news, Apple to release a phone supporting 4G in 2015.

Sheesh Jobs, can’t you at least *try* to keep up with the pack? You’re not leading, in fact right now you’re trailing in the bottom third. Oh, but it’s a pretty Apple product, I almost forgot…

    • Businessman

The name of the game is profit and Apple wins hands down. There isn’t even a close second place finsher.

  • Anonymous

Wouldn’t be surprised if the next iPhone is really just an iPhone 4gs…basically an A5 upgrade, more RAM, maybe more megapixels…and released in white on launch day. Verizon iPhone changed the release structure. Also wouldnt be surprised if the real major update(iPhone 5 or 6) ends up being an LTE Verizon US exclusive next spring. With the LTE AT&T version to follow later in the summer.

    • Sean76

      I agree.

  • Brian Dunkelman

Analyst claim BGR needs real news to report.

  • max

meanwhile you BB Morons anxiously await the next iteration of the curve, pearl, or bold. Tech morons. Stuck in your BBM (truly BM) mode of 2001.

Huh? Your ire seems random misplaced

  • http://www.facebook.com/moondrius Nolan Smith

Is this a joke? How many times can one site report about something and then change it up? I saw an article here that said “iphone 5 to be released in july based on report” and then an hour later “iphone 5 to miss july deadline based on report”

I used to actually like this site but now it seems like none of the info is correct and/or is just being made up to attract all of the apple fanboys to make them think you guys actually know what you are talking about. This article is old news, I believe you guys posted it a few weeks ago unless I am some sort of psychic and just happed to pull this information out of my ass.

Later today “iPhone to be released in June, analyst claims”
Tonight “iPhone actually to be released in September, analyst claims”
    tomorrow morning, groundhog day!

    • KCRic

Don’t forget the intermediate “iPhone 5 source found to be wrong” report. Right before the next “iPhone 5 NEW AND IMPROVED release date from a better nondescript source this time” report. – Zach

  • Jared

I’d almost be willing to bet money that with all these white iPhone 4′s we’ve been hearing about, and it’s release date that that phone is actually the iPhone 5 and Apple tricks us all again.

Just something that’s crossed my mind.

  • Generatione

The A5 will be obsolete by September

  • blada

who is this analyst, steve jobs? i would stop listening to him after he changes his story so often. i think he’s tricking you no purpose.

  • Anonymous

aaah, the nexus one killer will be out later this year…. grrrreat!
only kidding, it will probably be a really good phone.

  • Guester

does every iPhone post need to have a picture of an iPhone?

  • Rock Me Like A Hurricane

Keep on posting those Iphone rumors Zach. This site has become a shell of itself. You post every and I mean every Iphone rumor on the planet.

    • Anonymous

      It’s great! I love it!

There used to be a time when people enjoyed the anticipation of an event; NOW, it’s just spoilt sooky cry-babies who want EVERYTHING yesterday!

  • 1T2dirtnap

Keeping reporting it. The more users click on the article the more then show you the money!

  • Alexander530

I am really getting tired of all these iphone speculations. It’s annoyingly ridiculous. If Apple does not want to share anything to the public, then let them be.

    • Anonymous

I agree completely – the only people not at the table anymore is Apple. All these posts are about a lot of great new products (mostly Android) and the occassional Apple rumour. It’s just not interesting anymore. There is far too much interesting stuff going on with all the other phone developers to care about whether or not Apple is or isn’t participating anymore.

      • Anonymous

So don’t READ them, then! Blimey!!!

  • Anonymous

Well I guess I, like many others I’m sure, will have a major dilemma – my 3Gs two year contract expires in June – so what would you have me do Apple? I can either renew with a shiny new iPhone 5 or I guess I’ll have to go with something else, maybe an android this time. What do you expect people to do when their contracts expire – wait and live without a phone until you get your sh&$ together?

    • Anonymous

Grow up already, you spoilt so-and-so!

You’ve got a perfectly good phone to use till the new model is available. What the hell is it with you people???

  • http://twitter.com/kaiyel1 Kyle Miller

As the official iPhone 5 analyst, I want to dismiss this fraudulent claim that Apple’s new phone will not be coming out this September or even this year. Our prediction and anticipated arrival of the phone is set to arrive by late 2012. Also it was predicted on Mayan calendar around this time as well! As you know, Apple phones are indeed magical!
