Apple sues Samsung over Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab, and more

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Cupertino-based iDevice manufacturer Apple, Inc. has filed a lawsuit against Korea’s Samsung Electronics for intellectual property violations on a host of devices. “Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products,” reads the complaint. Apple has taken exception to the technologies used by Samsung’s popular Galaxy S, Nexus S, and Epic 4G smartphones as well as the Galaxy Tab tablet. Neither Apple nor Samsung has publicly commented on the freshly filed suit, but we’re sure this isn’t the last you’ll be hearing about this particular case.

    I’m not surprise when Apple sues any manufacture because they make touch screens, have the phone feature, and animations, have cameras, have internet, and bla bla.. Suing is like crying that Apple is reaching a dead end. They killed themselves for restricting innovations with moronic patents.

    i don’t really blame Apple… look at how many products they release and update frequently, just to have their design or os imitated by competitors. Companies don’t need to innovate anymore because they can just follow the market leaders and modify their products slightly and call it their own. Apple does overcharge for a lot of their products, but that strategy works for them, i personally don’t mind spending the extra money for a macbook or iphone, but not all mac users are elitists.

    I’m not an Apple fan(boy), but maybe they are in a few places right. TouchWiz on Samsung Galaxy looks very similar to iOS, even the phone design with curved edges is very iphone-like.
    But when it comes to decision which phone to buy – I’d rather buy SGS. Android is much better.

      Making a rounded bevel isn’t really something you can patent… It is just more comfortable and makes sense. Wouldn’t it be stupid if car companies started suing each other because they all chose to have less angular and more rounded bumpers? Better aerodynamics would be one of the causes of a design change like that.

    In that case, maybe BRAUN should also sue APPLE for taking direct visual cues for designing half of their product range, including the flagship ipod. As far as what i know both Samsung and Apple are going to benefit from this conflict, as ‘any publicity is good publicity’ :) .

    Why is is nexus s in this list i have no clue. never see an 4″ curved screen iDevice, and is google’s phone made by samsung like A4 in iDevices made by samsung,
