BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 handled on camera [video]

mobile

Following BGR’s exclusive scoop in January and our exclusive hands-on earlier this month, the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 (Montana) has been handled on video for the first time. The video doesn’t reveal any additional key details surrounding the highly anticipated smartphone, but BlackBerry fans will undoubtedly enjoy seeing the display being poked and swiped, thus eliminating any possible remaining doubt as to the existence of this once mythical beast. BGR revealed the majority of the Bold Touch’s key specs back in January, and highlights include a 2.8-inch touchscreen display above RIM’s famous BlackBerry keyboard, a 1.2GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video capture support, 3G mobile hotspot support and a 10.5mm-thin case. The Bold Touch is expected to be unveiled next month at BlackBerry World and it should launch globally in June or July. Hit the jump for the video.

I really like this phone. I’m not sure if I could replace my iPhone 4 with it though…

Can’t wait to own this and the PlayBook =)

It actually looks like it sucks .. icons are too small?… his finger looks super jittery and it doesn’t even seem like he meant to select the settings option.

    • http://twitter.com/NICKVALENTIN0 Nick Valentino

Uploader probably used YouTubes stabilization function.

    too bad its CDMA…

    • http://twitter.com/NICKVALENTIN0 Nick Valentino

Actually it’s GSM and CDMA. Notice bands 1,8.

  • J2kninek

About 2 years too late. And seems like a waste on a screen that size anyway.. Meh.

  • Anonymous

Wow, BGR, you guys are LATE. This was floating around on the web for almost a week now.

As for the blackberry itself. This surly will be my next phone!

    • Rampt

They scooped this thing twice already on top of all the Dakota scoops from last year. Why would they care about a video that shows us absolutely nothing we didn’t already know?

  • Kushyg

this is actually funny…. why does a 2.5 inch screen need to be touch? you pretty much cover up the whole screen with your thumb…. funny thing is blackberry users are going to really like this. GET AN iPHONE OR AN ANDROID PHONE ALREADY!

    • Anonymous

correction the screen size is 2.8″ i.e 0.7″ less than iPhone, you want to touch it for the same reason why you want to touch a 3.5″ screen and fyi it is wider than the iphone

    • Anonymous

Using that logic, typing on a touchscreen phone is impossible.

    • Anonymous

oh so i guess that the iPhone screen is hard to type on? Because this a 0.7″ smaller.

  • Batteman87

    Battery Pull 9930

    • RealDeal

I hate these battery pull comments, regular battery pulls ended with OS5. A comment like this is equivalent to someone saying “you have an iPhone? it doesn’t even have cut and paste” despite the fact that was fixed years ago. So stop it you look and sound stupid.

    • Rudy

It’s easier then smashing an iPhone against a wall trying to figure out to restart the bloody thing after it hangs…9 / 10 times I will sit there trying to restart it praying it will acknowledge I want action

  • Blah

Why would someone actually want a Outdated BB? The only thing this thing has going for it is the 1.2 Ghz proc… beyond that it’s the same ol’ thing as 2 years ago.

    • Anonymous

Because some of us actually like BlackBerry and the QWERTY keyboard they provide. I have no need for a full touch screen phone, nor do I want one. This device will sell just like every other bold device has. Very well…

cant wait to go back to blackberry! have been waiting for this

    • Tyler

Keep on waiting, because all RIM does is announce. They never actually RELEASE anything for months! When was the last time they actually released something new? It’s taken 7 months to release the Playbook (and it’s not even out yet). We’ll see some great stuff May 3rd, and maybe in August we’ll actually get to buy it. Maybe…

    Bold Touch & Playbook….. #WINNING

  • M1

I love BB and all, but did I see LAG??? WTF, I’m about done with blackberry because of this bs, what are their programmers doing all day? is it that hard to create a smooth os?

    • stranger

No LAG in that video…unless you’re expecting something to happen before he touches the screen.

        LOLOLOL

      @M1, Hey, I don’t see you creating any OS’s. So, why don’t you try some STFU ! ! !

      ( Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about )

  • BARGGINSFRODO

    BLACKBERRY YOUR BATTERY IS SHIT

  • Max

Hey Blackberry MORONS. I have a bridge to sell you idiots. Seeing as how you are tech mental midgets and satisfied with crap, I have a steaming lit bag of it I’d like to sell you. Knowing you idiots, you’d buy it.

    • Anonymous

Good one! Did your mom think of that one? I don’t care about Angry Birds, I care more about messaging, there is a nice keyboard on the iPhone and most Androids right? I could care less about the apps, more about BBM, texting, and BATTERY LIFE. How long does that Droid last, 4 hours? WOW! That’s good… for Android.

I am not here to argrue about this though, I like BlackBerry, you like boys… oops i meant to say touch screen devices lacking a keyboard.

    • http://www.facebook.com/rtk777 Robert Knight

@Max, Do you personally have a smartphone on the market that you’ve developed ? No, I didn’t think so. So why don’t you and M- whatever his name is, go sit in the corner and share in some of that STFU. So, we don’t have to listen to a couple of imbeciles ! ! !

  • Chris15682

ONE Camera?? Getting Reeeeeeeeal innovative there RIM!!!
    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

    SO EVERYONE KNOWS

    CDMA version – Montana
    GMS version – Dakota

THIS WILL BE ON VERIZON AND AT&T FOR SURE!!!!
    SPRINT MIGHT GET IT TOO

  • Guestone

Wow! Are you kidding me???? What kinda sh*t is this? Same old same old crap, again!!! RIM is dying……..

  • Todd

Ok, I understand that not everyone wants a BlackBerry. But the same goes for iPhone and Android phones as well. Move along if you don’t like what you see. But don’t don’t think for moment that the iPhone4 (and soon to be iPhone5) doesn’t look like every other iPhone that’s come out before. Wake up folks. Slab phones all look pretty much the same…. rectangular blocks with a touch screen. Wow… that’s so 2007. ……annoying isn’t it??? Hopefully, God will have mercy on us and the smart phone market will become a bit smarter. All of this hating on phones is just mind numbing. Don’t people get tired of it???

  • tyler

How about releasing this or SOMETHING new May (new curve even). RIM needs to stop just announcing (which they’ll do May 3) and start actually releasing! I don’t want to have to wait several months after they show us their new devices (after several months of NOTHING new). Launch something at the show, or at least in May!!! I’m sure we’ll just get a “available sometime in Summer” or “in the coming months” (my personal favorite).

  • drew dogg

Definitely my next work phone. Call me old fashion but when I’m dipped in my dressy suit and bust out a blackberry nothing and I mean nothing feels classier!

  • Coward

wow its almost like an iphone, but has the old case!

  • fr3dd0

should have made the screen taller – more rectangular for videos. this will sell well though. not everyone wants android – MANY buyers just want a touch screen to have a touch screen… they see non touch screen phones as “cheap”…
