AT&T's Motorola ATRIX 4G just $49.99 from Amazon

mobile

No, this isn’t April Fools. AmazonWireless is selling AT&T’s Motorola ATRIX 4G for $49.99 with a new two-year AT&T contract. That’s $150 less than AT&T’s $199.99 price tag. Sure, there’s been some hoopla about AT&T’s 4G HSPA+ performance on the ATRIX, but it still packs plenty of punch with a killer dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor clocked at 1GHz, 1GB of RAM, Android 2.2 (Froyo), and a sharper-than-diamonds 960 x 540-pixel display. AmazonWireless sweetens the deal even further by knocking $100 off of the Motorola Laptop Dock accessory, which typically retails for $399.99 when purchased separately. We called the ATRIX 4G one of the best Android smartphones to ever be available from AT&T when we reviewed it in February, so you know you’re getting some top-notch gear. The $49.99 deal is likely a limited-time offer, so don’t delay if you’re in the market for a new smartphone from AT&T.

“Android…get ‘em while they’re cheap! Or wait – they’ll be even cheaper! Ask for extra cheese and a side of large fries”.

I’m pretty sure when you apple people get a headache you go see the proctologist, is that correct?

      • Brian

Usually some good coke and a hooker, thanks.

      • Anonymous

Of course they get a headache! Our stuff is free, or almost free, and theirs cost money. Wouldn’t you have a headache as well? Pretty soon, it will be worse, when Google starts throwing the money to consumers to take Android. Did you know our gods at Google have over $35 billion in CASH (more than Apple measly $25 billion or so)???? That, my dear Goofan (aka Apple Hater) will be coming our way pretty soon! Because that’s how Google rolls. Try that Apple!

      • Sshumaker79

Free comes with a dick in the ass, which is something I’ve notice most android users prefer

You get what you pay for. huh

Hey, it’s better than paying and getting screwed anyway, by Apple.

Hey FlingIt, when an iPhone stops dropping calls, you come back here and talk about quality. You who are so high on the horse that anything but Apple is cheap and sub par are preaching quality and using phones that completely suck as a phone. Go call the kettle black somewhere else you troll…

      • Bringit

Sorry to disappoint Mr. Steve Hillshire, my phone is on Verizon. If you knew anything about anything, or anything about cell service, you would be schooled in the fact the VZW is far superior to ATT.

Google it if you need to.

      • RH

Yeah yeah, but at least I can be talking on the phone, and send a text, email, or check the web (something I do daily, I use a BT all the time) ;)

      • Steve Hillshire

So explain why non-iPhones on AT&T have a better track record of not dropping calls? Or how about Apple’s statement that the iPhone 4 only drops one more call per 100 than the 3GS? So is the big news for the iPhone 5 that it will only drop one more call per 100 than the iPhone 4? That will put it at what? 99 dropped for every 100?? Your quality statements are a laugh for a phone that has yet to beat a flip phone in call connection quality.

And while we are on the subject of Google, why not try a search for dropped calls on Verizon? If you knew anything about anything young man, you’d find out that while there are fewer dropped calls on VZW than AT&T, they still occur and often enough for pro-Apple sites to admit there still may be antenna issues. So again, go troll somewhere else for your laughable quality pitches.

Bringit, BABYYY … I got your iStraps ready for tonite. Don’t forget that strawberry flavoured lube you like. Oh, my friend from Nigeria wants to know if you’d be kind enough to smuggle an Atrix for him; I told him that your oversized Apple mAngina has great capacity and flexibility. But, he needs to know today because, if not, he’ll just go on Craigslist.

      • Bringit

haha! haha! you are the best. you must be at least 11.

Your constant and obsessive homoerotic fantasies are consistent with droooiiid’doucher’s constant obsession and fantasies about all things Apple.

You see that PAPITO? Apple fanboys are the most immature people on the planet. Of course, we, Goofans (aka Apple Haters) are the smartest, but those Apple Fanboys! Argh!!!! I was with a neurosurgeon the other day and he was using an iPad (AND an iPhone AND an iMac) and immediately I knew his IQ was lower than mine and knew he played with GI Joe still!

      • Corbygray528

I have yet to ever drop a call on my iPhone 4 on AT&T, and I’ve had it since launch. Never had the “death grip” issue either. I don’t understand where everyone is saying these problems are…

      • Bringit

It’s because Steve Hillshire does not have any thoughts of his own. He just regurgitates what he reads.

      • Steve Hillshire

I personally know several people with iPhones (AT&T to be fair) that drop calls even when you talk to them via land line. Its no secret that AT&T’s network sucks big for calls (been there, done that) but the iPhone is even worse than normal phones. And don’t take my word on the dropped calls, comparing the 3GS and the iPhone 4, look no further than to Apple.

Its just laughable when FlingIt comes in talking about quality on Android phones when the iPhone still has yet to be a reliable *phone*. Even the companies he makes fun of *bury* Apple when it comes to the “phone” part of smart phone. I guess even at Apple’s consistent $200, you still don’t get a phone. Yeah, great “quality”

      • Joebutler85

It is a known and verified issue, though it isn’t one that seems to be causing problems on every unit. The Verizon one suffers from the same problem. The thing is, unless you are using the device in poor voice coverage areas, you probably won’t experience it. Just because you haven’t had the problem with yours doesn’t mean it’s not real. Apple a notoriously stingy company when it comes to giving anything away, wouldn’t have offered free cases for the few short months that they offered them if this wasn’t a real issue.

    • Jroc869

right cus if you dont pay at least 200 dollars for a phone then its sucks. Who knew it was a bad thing to get something at a great price. only an apple fan boy would demand to pay more.

      • Bringit

Quantity over quality. It’s a simple formula, even a droiiid’douche can understand the concept. With extra cheese and fries.

      • Steve Hillshire

You say that often enough that it must come natural for you. Which McDonalds drive through are you working at? Or are you practicing the line for when you get old enough to actually get a job at Mickey’s?

      • Joebutler85

The High End Droids have better hardware and way more functionality and features. If you think Android is so bad than why are the Apple gods copying their features with each subsequent iPhone release? The iPhone is an entry level smartphone for people that are new to technology or are terrible with computers. The iPhone, 2008 technology at 2011 prices. They do throw in a ton of restrictions for free though.

  • Jayhammy

I’ve got the Atrix on Bell (Canada) and I must say that this is an AMAZING phone. I’ve also got a Thunderbolt on Verizon. While each has its own merits (and I generally prefer HTC’s devices), I was impressed at the form factor, the screen resolution, and the overall power of this device. Too bad it has Motoblur, but there are of course ways around it. I’ve compared the qHD resolution of this device next to the iPhone 4′s “retina” display and, honestly, there’s really no difference. They’re both equally awesome displays.

    • Jayhammy

Of course, I forgot to add the the iP4 has only a 3.5″ screen while the Atrix has 4.0″ screen. I prefer the larger screen myself.

      • Joeye1

Don’t forget that the iPhone 4 screen has a pixel count of 321pi while the atrix is way lover because it is 4 inches 960×540 while iPhones is 3.5 at 960×640. Also the iPhone is super LCD while the atrix is pentile.

    • http://www.droiddoes.com/ Norm

I’ve never thought about getting an international phone number from a place like Canada to get more DROIDs. You sir are a genius. I’m calling up Bell and Rogers and buying some more DROID devices that I may not have on contract with them. I love giving my moneys to Google and DROID!

      • Jayhammy

You’re friggin hilarious, Norm! Love it.
Yes, I need 2 phones as I travel to/from Canada a lot from upstate NY. The unlimited international data plan is no longer available and it costs more to data roam in Canada than it does to pay a $55/month plan from Bell.

      • Anonymous

And remember, Google gives it ALL back to us when you give them money. They’ve $35 billion and counting and they will be giving us, the Goofans (aka Apple Haters) ALL of it when the time is right!

    • Scott

I had an Atrix. The screen was “alright”. It’s pentile, so the extra res makes it look better. But if you put it next to an iPhone 4, it wouldn’t look nearly as good. Like room in on a picture, the screen distorts the picture because it’s pentile. Such a let down. I hope HTCs qHD display isn’t pentile.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VNMZ67HA6QFEXTW5OXVSB4KDRM BillyBoy

I think the best thing about the Atrix is that if you want to use the lock screen feature on the phone, there’s nothing easier than the fingerprint scanner they built into it that doubles as a screen wake/power button. It’s a shame the email client and Motoblur in general just sucks.

  • http://www.nerd-news.com Rob Boggan

Sheeeeeeesh…. Although it is an awesomely spec’d phone, I returned mine and went with the Inspire 4G because the UI is sucky, and let’s face it….. locked bootloader combined with AT&T’s notoriously locked down Android phones make this device a definite miss. At least in my opinion….

    • http://www.droiddoes.com/ Norm

its still free and open despite it being some what closed. DROID gives you so many more options than Apple.

      • http://www.nerd-news.com Rob Boggan

oh yeah. completely and totally agree. You can still do a ton more than what you could normally do with other smartphones, it’s just by comparison, AT&T locks down their Android phones more than other carriers.

I told her the captivate and she was like stupid F#$%ing atrix I can’t see a dam thing on this screen out here and motoblur sucks. I said let me see and she was right I could barely see a dam thing and motoblur does really suck. Samsung’s have there issues but superAMOLED and touchwhiz are better than Motorola’s crap.

    • Tim242

Has she heard of Launcher Pro? It’s stupid to bash a phone based on the skin, when it is easily replaced.

Deal with it. But the Atrix stinks.

  • Anonymous

I had the pleasure to play with one of these at the AT&T store about a week ago, I kind of liked it but that freggin Motoblur crap makes it feel like shit. Why can’t these OEMs just focus on hardware and leave the software part to google. I guess it’s all about greed.

  • Froyo55

in my opinion, motoblur ain’t that bad and it doesn’t lag on Atrix.

    • Anonymous

I hate MOTOBLUR and, for as much as I hate to admit it, you are correct. What ‘lags on Atrix’ is AT&Trashy.

Huge discounts are a good thing because Android is open.

If they gave me 49.00 and a blow job from Elena Kagan I wouldnt take this pos. Buggy, laggy and Blur all over. No thanks. Maybe Droid does but moto don’t. Google Kagan if you care to lose your lunch

    • Jamestownbrian

Completely agree. I tried it as well. Real garbage. The people who think the screen is “great” have not seen a Galaxy S or iPhone. That is great. Atrix is shitty on so many levels.

  • Anonymous

And that, my dear Goofans (aka Apple Haters), is how we will come to dominate. Whereas Apple thinks that their FULL PRICE product is the way to go, our geniuses at Google are “incentivizing” the manufacturers and carriers to give them all away! That’s how you dominate the world. Give it away baby and they will come!

    • Anonymous

Goofan, you know I always agree with you but, how come ‘giving it away’ hasn’t worked for “Bringit” ??? He’s been giving away and giving it away (since he can’t get anyone to buy ‘it’ anymore) but, he just can’t seem to make HEAD way (although, he’s good at “giving”). What can he do differently, Goofan?

I just don’t want to keep bending him away.

But, I’m glad you’re still willing to give iT away!!!

      • Steve Hillshire

FlingIt, you didn’t answer my other question yet. Which McDonalds drive through are you working at? Since you are always asking if you want fries with that, I’m pretty sure you are either working a drive through, or practicing a lot so you can score that job at Mickey’s! Which one your working???????

      • Android_man

WTF?? This site is a joke.

      • eastcoast

Have to agree, out of hand, must be no mods, joke it is.

    • 1T2dirtnap

Goofan, you are correct. How you come to dominate is by buying a company called Android Inc. Then buying up a few more companies with a lot of talented people. Then you develop a business plan, which consist of paying OEM’s to use your OS. To accomplish this is simple, all you needed to do is convince the lazy OEM’s you are willing to share with them ad(vertisement) revenues if they use your OS. These lazy OEM’s who didn’t want to put the time, effort and money into developing their own OS realize they have nothing to lose you will pay them to use your product. Then wa la… you have multiple variations of a core OS over multiple devices. Individually they doesn’t necessarily sell well, but as a whole allows Android/Google to capture market share and Ad(Mob) revenue. Hehe…

when the Mytouch 4G came out i was going to get it from Amazon for $79.99 just like this article mentioned.
I also went to a Tmobile store and they wanted like $300 and there was a mail in rebate but those suck. Anyways after i said no and told them i was going to just buy it from amazon, they said they would price match it, and they did, so anyone reading this, give that a try.

  • Anonymous

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa? 49.99? Some of you feel ripped off. Darn those Android things.

  • Google

I almost got this but decided to wait for the LG G2x coming out on the 15th with T-Mobile USA instead. I want to lock in that $79.99 1500 minute promo with the $20 unlimited web included. This is the plan I’d like to have when AT&T takes over.

Seriously if anyone is on the fence with T-Mobile and AT&T right now and they both suffice for your coverage needs in your area I’d go with the cheaper of the 2 to lock in better rates.

  • Scott

I returned my Atrix. It was a pretty good phone, but had it’s issues. The camera wasn’t very good. The screen was “alright” since it’s pentile. And the upload speeds were terrible thanks to AT&T. I picked up a used N1 and couldn’t be happier. Running 2.3.3 on CM7 RC4 and my upload speeds are much better! r

    • http://twitter.com/kirkewilliams kirkewilliams

That’s what you get for using Android.

I’m waiting for $50 plus a $300 mail-in rebate. Still probably not worth it.

  • Tax224

ATT wants to charge $199.99 for the phone alone. but IF you decide to buy the laptop docking station at the same time they will then charge you $499.99 for both. but they’ll give you $30.00 off IF you also buy their Pronto Forms app as well which will cost you $19.95 a month. BUT if you buy the phone first at $199.99 THEN buy the laptop dock later they will charge you $499.99 just for the laptop dock AFTER you’ve spent the $199.99 for the phone. ATT can go screw themselves!!!
