Supposed iPhone 5 images reveal larger display, new antenna design [updated]

mobile

Three images of what is claimed to be Apple’s iPhone 5 have surfaced, supposedly sourced from a Vietnamese forum. While the authenticity of the images is anything but confirmed, they do appear to show a device that is in line with several rumors surrounding Apple’s next-generation iPhone. Most notably, we can see that the display on the device pictured is larger than the display on the iPhone 4, as highlighted by several arrows placed on the images. While the exact dimensions of the screen on the pictured device are unknown, we can clearly see that the spacing between the display and the outer edges of the phone are narrower than the spacing found on the iPhone 4. We can also see that the display has been stretched vertically, narrowing the space between the screen and the ear speaker as well as the space above and below the home button. Finally, the images show a redesigned external antenna that no longer has seams on the bottom right corner or on the top of the device next to the audio jack. This could mean that Apple found a way to reduce attenuation by moving one or two antennas back inside the case, thus eliminating the contact point that caused the highly publicized ”death grip” issues on the iPhone 4. Hit the break for all three images.

UPDATE: The images pictured in this post have been identified as fakes.

I know these are already determined to be fake, but I don’t see how anyone could fall for them in the first place. Just putting a red arrow pointing to the bezel doesn’t make the bezel smaller. The screen and the bezels in the picture are *exactly* the same size and appearance as the iPhone 4. They’re not even shopped, just pics of an iPhone 4.

Let’s see, you posted two stories yesterday about the iPhone 5. The second one was to say ‘opps sorry, the rumors were fake’. Now you post another rumor about the iPhone AGAIN, this one happens to be a week old Chinese April fools joke that you’re just now getting.

If you could only see me laughing at your incompetence right now, you’d be so pissed. This site (won’t name specific people) is the biggest Apple fanboy out there. They take it up the a$$ from anything that smells of Apples and then eat it, you know, to keep the doctor away. There are Apple only sites that aren’t as bad as this one.

You are probably one of those people that when the iPhone 4 leaked thought it was ugly and no one would buy it, then you stood in line months later to buy one.

If iOS5 does NOT have widgets, I will be very surprised… so far the iphone5 is as underwhelming as the iphone4.
My bet is there will be widgets, and that Jobs will pretend that apple actually invented them, or that apple do it in a superior way somehow… just you wait and see!

Apple invented widgets back in 1983, so it seems like you don’t know computing history.

oh of course! and they also invented touch screens, didn’t they!
        LOL

.iphone makes me throw up in my mouth a little. Apple definitely not leading in innovation. The one home button is a huge turnoff. As is the non customizable ui. Just lame.

But you’re not a sophisticated user, iPhone users are, so you need to remember that.

Can you put the update at the top of the article so we don’t need to read through it…

Well, if iphone 5 is nothing more than a “lipstick” job on iphone 4, I’m just not interested.

    PLUS

Pyramid and/or Galaxy II have ALL the features the iphone 5 MIGHT have so tell me why I should wait?

But you’d be stuck with using the Android OS, and nobody wants that.

Do they still even make the Droid? I haven’t heard of anyone buying one for about a year.

    “new antenna design”

Why the new design? We were told there was nothing wrong with the iP4 antenna design.

With Android surpassing and Rim catching up(love my rim and wait until next year with QNX!!), I’ll pass on Apple for my mobile devices.
