Image of AT&T’s LG Optimus One hits the Internet

mobile

Blog PocketNow has acquired an image of what is presumed to be AT&T’s variant of the LG Optimus One. The popular, mid-level device — which sports a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, 800MHz processor, and largely unmolested version of Android 2.2. — is available on a half-dozen regional and national U.S. carriers. We would expect the device to be released under the moniker Optimus A — as is customary: Optimus + first letter of carrier name — but with AT&T, you never really know. If you read our report from earlier this morning, you’ll know that Android handsets costing under $150 are projected to be big business in 2011.

This is almost the exact same device as Sprint’s Samsung Moment. AT&Terribly outdated.

P.S. It was good on Sprint over a year ago, Sprint’s version is discontinued; take note Cingular.

I’m going to buck the trend and say it’s great to see AT&T bringing this versatile little device out. It’s a mid-range phone at an entry level price (unless they overprice it like VZW does) and brings more people into the Android world in a good way.

It certainly wont sell to the superphone market, but it’s nice to see devices coming to the lowend market that don’t force people to compromise for disgusting UIs and outdated versions.

Did they bump up the qualcomm chip to 800mhz in this version of the optimus, or is that just a typo? The other optimi are all clocked at 600mhz, and the MSM7627 that they use is the same processor that was used in the Palm Pixi and later the LG Ally, as well. I’m guessing it is the same 600mhz chip.
