Larry Page takes the reins as Google CEO

Business

Notice anything different with Google today? No? Neither did we. As announced back in January, Google co-founder Larry Page re-assumed his role as CEO of the Internet search giant today. The company’s former CEO, Eric Schmidt, will move to the position of Executive Chairman. “We’ve been talking about how best to simplify our management structure and speed up decision making for a long time,” said Schmidt during the company’s Q4 earnings call back in January. “By clarifying our individual roles we’ll create clearer responsibility and accountability at the top of the company. In my clear opinion, Larry is ready to lead and I’m excited about working with both him and Sergey for a long time to come.” Page briefly held the position of CEO in 2001 before turning the reins over to the more seasoned Schmidt.

I really wish Larry would stop smiling, his teeth kinda make me uneasy. Oh, and I wish Brin was the CEO, I just feel he is way more hands on than Page has been since the beginning. I feel Brin has interests in making the company larger and develops more products then Page ever has or will. That is to say that Page is less likely to know what his company needs and thus wont make the best decisions for the company. That is my opinion at least.

No just tired of all the excuses phandroids make. I think they have all used every one in the book on why their OS doesn’t do this and that blah blah

First order of business, fix the damn feature-creep and mission drift of Android Google Maps.

The DOA social fluff they keep putting in there instead of making it a fully-featured Maps and Navigation (to really compete with PNDs) is devaluing Google Maps.
