HTC to address camcorder audio problems on ThunderBolt

mobile

HTC has reportedly confirmed a pesky bug impacting the audio on video recordings captured with Verizon Wireless’ new HTC ThunderBolt smartphone. The bug, according to several ThunderBolt owners who have taken to forums to discuss the issue, causes the audio to be muffled on video files captured using the device’s camcorder function. The bug is intermittent, so only some video recordings are affected. According to enthusiast blog Android Central, HTC has acknowledged the issue and has stated that a fix is currently in the works. In the meantime, third-party video recorders are seemingly unaffected by the bug, so there are several alternatives that can be used until HTC releases its fix.

      Whoa man!

Ah, to have a phone early enough that there’s still bugs in it. I’ve been waiting a long time for this. [No. I'm not kidding. I'm a former WinMo user. No need to pity me, though. I have a TBolt now.]

What’s the purpose of the soft circle underneath the kickstand?

    • Anonymous

      It’s the external antenna port.

        Thanks!

When I cover it with my hand does it affect the signal?

Haha wow the laundry list of problems continue, yet another manufacturer trying to rush a “android” product.

Nice attempt at an “Evo v2″ maybe their next iteration of the Evo will be half-way decent

actually my thunderbolt is flawless but nice try jackass

Laundry list of problems??? So the secondary noise-cancelling microphone actually WORKING is a problem? An update to disable it during camcorder functions is a huge deal?

As opposed to the Evo’s non-existant problems I guess.. such problems that didn’t exist like:

      -Screen separation
      -Screen unresponsiveness
-Screen not registering touches at all
-Light leakage from the sides of the screen
      -Poor battery
      -Inability to charge over USB

I guess that isn’t a laundry list… it’s just a grocery list. Meanwhile, the Thunderbolt has 1 problem… the camcorder… where it isn’t really a problem, but a feature actually doing its job.

This issue, speakerphone crackles and nobody can you on other end, battery cover edge keeps coming out of place, speaker so quiet, not strong glass at all my dogs nail scratched the screen (chihuahua) walking across it. No point in a front camera if you can’t do a Damn thing with it…..waiting on Skype like they promised. My apartment is 5 feet from full 4g signal, for some reason the LTE radio won’t pick it up. I live in auburn, wa I am literally between 2 towers. One in tacoma and one in Seattle. And the battery is horrific, 2 hours max playing on it. Thats with 3g signal, LTE I can’t get over an hour unless I have to always keep a charger on me or if.I am going out not touch it. And the freaking god awful amount of bloatware Verizon put on it makes me sick. Def gonna trade it for a xperia play.

  • badfishie

my Thunderbolt works flawlessly. I have good 3G coverage, and can use voice and data on 3G with no issues. On 4G i get 15mb down and 28mb up, and love my phone. I know of 3 others with the same phone and no issues there either

    • SMS

15mb down and 28mb up. WTF!! Liar

      • Bullet Tooth Tony

The download is accurate… the upload file, however, is too small and the phones cache is too large… so it throws off the reported number… but yeah… 15 down is average… it goes much higher than that. Upload is more like 8 Mbps…

Verizon LTE speeds head on youtube’s and add “/watch?v=aVC10FMD8kg”

I hate my stupid VZ iPhone. It can only make phone calls, surf the web at reliable 3G speeds, stream netflix, and skype with anyone in the world. I just wish it was more like the Thunderbolt so I can download viruses and attach a brick to the back of it to get half decent battery like. The more articles I read about the thunderbolt the happier I am with my decision.

We also have Google the Overlord to remotely kill our apps to protect us when the apps violate their ads money! I’m so pleased that you also got your freedom!

This phone is getting one bad press after another. First the battery life issues, and now this. What could be next?

    • Anonymous

I don’t know, but 40+mbps download speeds that I’m getting on it I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Thunderbolt has flaws. I have an iPhone now for 3 yrs. iPhone 4 currently. The only thing I like about those Androids. Is the larger screens, period. Iphone’s are seamless & user friendly. Great camera, Retina display & the best media player. I would not trade my iPhone for any other phone.

Hey do me a quick favor. I am going to email you on your phone, please hit reply and attach a pdf or anything else to it please. While you’re at it hit up your picture gallery and long-press a thumbnail and see if you can do more than “copy” with it. You people know nothing else except iPhones and Moto RAZR. You should be the last one saying other phones have flaws when you have no clue what a real “smart phone” is. P.S. your camera sucks, your pictures are over-saturated so you “think” it looks good.

    • Sal

Yea what about the anntena problems? Apple never fixed that issue that is why you need to carry the bumper. What about your weak volume on your iphone? Did I mention that iphone 4 lacks 4g speeds on verizon. HTC might have some minor issues but they are willing to admit it unlike apple.

This story is a complete fabrication of these BGR iFanatics. The EVOOOO is perfect and so is it’s SuperBrother, The ThunderBolt¡₣. Sheep are just jealous that they’re still locked into their current contract because, otherwise, they would have iDumped their “partial” phones on March 17th.

That’s right, keep on praising that fabulous 0.30 pixelated camera!

Did Apple respond and produce a ‘fix’ for their antenna design feature not holding a signal so fast?

    Oh, never mind.

Maybe we could be charged a fee for a physical ‘band aid’ for the speakerphone. Or we could just let HTC patch it via a software fix.

itards harping on this are transparent.
