Samsung Galaxy S 2011 edition with 1.4GHz processor launching next month

Samsung Russia has confirmed that it will launch a new version of the popular Galaxy S Android smartphone next month. The Galaxy S 2011 edition will ship with Android 2.3 and also feature a new metal back cover. The phone packs a faster 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255T Snapdragon processor — as opposed to the 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird CPU in the original — as well as a 14.4Mbps HSPA+ radio and a larger 1,650mAh battery. The rest of the hardware remains identical to the original; that includes a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 8GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 3.0, 5 megapixel camera capable of recording 720p HD video, and more. The Galaxy S 2011 edition is expected to hit Russia next month for 24,000 rubles ($846 USD). There’s no word if the 2011 edition will ever be available in other countries. Hate… Samsung…. seriously….

Why do they keep updating these phones every 4 months?? Why can’t they make one good phone with decent hardware specs and update it with software improvements over next 1 year. The whole Android, open source thing is amazing, but if each manufacturer controls the updates then its a MAJOR FAIL! Why do i have to buy the latest device to get the latest OS??!

Its all about the manufacturers maxing on our pockets! I totally agree with u though. Google should step in & say companies cant hold back updates for the sake of pushing out a new phone. Or better yet, Only allow naked Android with skins an option. Then have updates pushed immediately to all phones. If the skin isnt compatible with the new OS, Samsung, Sony, ect. can push updates for the (optional) skins no different than app developers do when new software/hardware drops

SKINNI I wish you were the head of Samsung operations right now!! Or any Android device maker!!

The Galaxy S is a great line of products but it is getting a bit annoying with new iterations of the same product with minimal bumps. Start rolling out dual core CPU’s already Sammy and stop fooling around with the same phone. .

I wish the US versions of the Galaxy S phones had the trackpad.
