Verizon’s spring portfolio leaked: DROID Charge, Incredible 2, Galaxy S 2 in tow

mobile

If you were planning to buy a smartphone from Verizon Wireless soon, you may want to hold off for one more month. It looks like there are a number of high-end smartphones that are set to launch this spring; at least, according to a tipster who leaked an internal document to Phandroid. The leak suggests that Verizon Wireless will release the Casio Commando, an Android powered smartphone, and the Samsung DROID Charge β€” capable of running on Verizon’s 4G LTE network β€” on April 7th. The next week, Verizon Wireless will purportedly launch the Sony Xperia PLAY and the Windows 7-powered HTC Trophy. On April 28th, the HTC DROID Incredible 2 may also make its debut. Verizon Wireless’ other 4G phones, including the LG Revolution, Motorola BIONIC, Motorola DROID X2, and Samsung Galaxy 2 (presumably the Galaxy S 2), and are reportedly scheduled to launch in May. Again, this is all speculation, and given that the source’s Excel file looks a bit shoddy, we wouldn’t place too much stock in this… but the timing does make sense.

I wish there was a column labeled “Bing”.

      And a bloatware richter scale.

Wish Phandroid would have told us how much confidence they have in their source. Ths S2 with LTE this soon is a shocker. Will have to hold off on getting the Charge to see if it is true.

Why is everyone assuming the Galaxy LTE device is the S2? Samsung announced at CTIA they will have a new 7″ Galaxy Tab with LTE built in. Wouldn’t that make more sense?

Note that the spreadsheet is labeled “handsets”, not tablets.

Fake! The MiFi name is a trademark of Novatel, and is not applicable to hotspots made by any other manufacturer. This shows “Samsung MiFi” for March 31. Verizon’s inventory system would not refer to the Samsung product with this name.

    • Guestbro

Whether or not it’ll be launched with the MiFi name, the Samsung hotspot is supposedly coming very soon anyway.

This doesn’t seem like an official document. More like a summary. As I said above, would like to know Phandroid’s confidence in their source.

    • phaser

There are 2 mifis realising. . One novatel and a Samsung. . Both 4G

    Oh new phones. Shock!

This is part of what I find frustrating with android. So many phones with minor (yet often important) differences with varying level of support (i.e. 12 months or more for android) from the manufacturer. Yes, I know choice is good, but it becomes a research project every 4 weeks to keep up

    • Anonymous

Do you buy a phone every 4 weeks?

  • Jroc869

fake or not thats one hell of a list of phones. Thats just by may. MAkes me wish we didnt just switch to sprint, but gotta save that money i guess. DAMN!

  • DD

Its too many Android phones always coming out. I can’t keep up.

    • Anonymous

Any why exactly do you need to keep up?

    • Fillyo

Think of Anroid OS like Windows, everyone under the sun makes laptops with windows, if you tried to keep up, your screwed, the good news is this spawns innovation and is good for the consumer. Just think, if you bought an Iphone, you know they are only making hardware improvements once a year. I don’t think that is good, except for your psyche!

Galaxy S2 might be the best option going forward, it’s dual core with a gig of ram, yeah samsung won’t update their devices but samsung’s are easy to root and custom roms will keep any user up to date. It has enough power to last a few years, the single core’s will be cool for this year and maybe not next year….i’m waiting to see what the Droid3 will have. i hope it goes back to stock.

A couple odd details: 1) 1st time I’ve seen the Droid X2 billed as a 4G device. Every other story I’ve seen says it’ll be 3G 2) No mention of the Droid 3? Moto and VZW must be cooking up something extra special for it, since Droid n devices have always been Android flagships

Whatever happened to “Verizon will focus less on Android with the CDMA iPhone”? What ever happened to that?

      • Anonymous

CDMA iPhone was there best selling phone ever. Sad seeing that the phone was 8 months old when they got it. They have more android os phones there is only one iPhone. So I don’t know where you got your info. Go back to the pogo games website tardboy.

  • George Riddick Copyright_Guru

This forces the hand of those clowns at Apple.

Now they have to release a 4G LTE iPhone by fall, otherwise they’re dead meat.

  • 1T2dirtnap

Wow Inc. 2 and Trophy global phones! Big things coming from VZ in April and May!

I really hope that incredible 2 has some advantage over the og incredible. Cause it seems like it will be the same old 3g phone with maybe a new processor and thats all.

  • ROB

Looks like they gave up on The Merge?

  • YoYo

Xperia Play is easily gonna be the phone to look at, how can you go wrong with the Android OS and Playsation. Its a match made in heaven.
