Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot paws-on!

While Verizon Wireless just announced two new 4G LTE devices that are going to serve up insanely fast mobile broadband speeds, Samsung’s 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot is the first one in our hands. We’ve been rockin’ and rollin’ over Verizon’s 4G LTE network for a little while thanks to the new mobile hotspot, and we’re happy to report extremely fast speeds around 12Mbps down and 5.5Mbps up on average — the fastest speeds that the device is rated for. In terms of size, it’s just a tad thicker than the original Novatel MiFi unit we rely on for our mobile connectivity. We haven’t had enough time to test battery life for ourselves, but we’ll report back. The Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot is available online from Verizon Wireless starting today, and will be in stores beginning tomorrow for $99.99 with a two-year service agreement.     thank you for the early report on this device–it is one i am highly interested in getting…just waiting to see how the early-out consumer reviews fare. i will be especially interested in learning about whether this device poses the same problems that other verizon 4G LTE devices have been plagued with–seamless transitioning between 4G and 3G. so if you would kindly consider this in your review, i would be most appreciative as i will be checking back periodically to see how it goes.

    p.s. your dog is absolutely gorgeous and models the device quite nicely :)

    I received mine today. Very fast! Works well with iOs devices. Does not presently work with some MacBook Pros and Airs! It drops the wifi connection. Verizon is aware. For further info, search Verizon community forum with “Samsung 4g hotspot and MacBook Pro problems.” I will test my iMac at work tomorrow (that has Lion Pre release). Otherwise, a great device. Hopefully, the incompatibilities will be addressed soon.

    Beware! If you are thinking about using voip. Verizon is blocking it. I bought one, it worked fine, but did not allow my voip traffic to go through.
