Images of HTC Pyramid leak; Android 2.3, 1.2GHz dual-core

mobile

The gang over at XDA Developers have acquired several new images of the unannounced and unreleased HTC Pyramid Android handset. The site’s intel seems to confirm what has been rumored for several months: this device is going to be a beast. The Pyramid will boast a 4.3-inch qHD display with a 960 x 54o pixel resolution, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 768MB of RAM, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, Wi-Fi b/g/n, and will run Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3) with Sense 3.0 (the same version that will be running on the EVO 3D). No word on when and where this Herculean handset will hit store shelves… but we’re hoping sooner rather than later. Hit the jump to see a few more images.

FIRST! ANDROID SUCKS. IOS FAR MORE SUPERIOR AND SEXY

    • Sephiroth_4

For a moment there, I thought you meant to type IOS….

      Dumb Ass FTW!

    • PETER FITZENWELL

Stop hating banghole …wtf has ios added to their user interface mutiltasking and a ffc….oooh aaah get a life troll

    • Anonymous

lol @ the iphone5′s new features being stuff that android has already had. But itards will act like its revolutionary to have proper notifications, bigger screen, and other basic standard stuff other OS’s like android, web OS ,etc already had.
Nice playing catchup from now on apple. ios will always be behind the curb now that they are no longer top dog lol

      • http://twitter.com/fvsanpedro Francis San Pedro

if Apple was really worried about no longer being the top dog, you’d have to think they’d start making a bunch of crappy iOS phones to compete with the crappy Android phones.

      • Anonymous

Thats what they already do if the iPhone was Android it would be mid range

      • katiepea

i don’t subscribe to that train of thought. apple DOES compete with windows, but still refuses to put their OS on anything but their own hardware. the fact of the matter is if you aren’t willing to play with your toys their way they aren’t much fun having. apple is very much so worried about android, they’d be retarded not to, especially considering industry analysts predict ios to be about 15% marketshare in the near future and android around 50%. if those numbers ever come to fruition i don’t see apple maintaining the platform. in fact i’m rather tired of people assuming apple always has an answer or knows what they’re doing. i switched from iOS to android because i needed change, apple never provides this. they haven’t released a new device for almost 4 years now. new versions of the same old OS and then a tablet with THE SAME OLD OS on it. sorry but they simply seem to be stumped lately. you can talk about sales all you want, that doesn’t make them relevant to the future. the ipad is in serious trouble and i’d say the reason apple isn’t releasing a new iphone in june is because they don’t know wtf to do .

  • Anonymous

Any word on which carrier it’ll be released on?

    • Scott

      Tmo. I mean, AT&T. lol

    • Anonymous

      AT^3?

      • Anonymous

        wrong… AT^3 = AT*T*T != AT&T&T
        AT&T&T = AT+T+T=AT+2T=(A+2)T

      • Anonymous

america isn’t known for its math so AT^3 will do; not to mention it’s less symbols

  • Bringit

…another day, another “leak” of a “new” drooiiiddd phone. They are going to start giving these away in cereal boxes.

      • Gaza

        I thought it was imitation?

I think imitation is the sincerest form of jealousy…. er…. flattery is the sincerest form of… basically it’s gotta be your bull.

    • Commentator

      Exactly.
Android has made cellphone releases boring…even droid fans must admit this. Every day there is a new 1.2 gz phone that’s identical to the one released the day before.

Gone are the days when high end phone releases meant something, because each did something new…the N95, the original iphone, even the first android phone (the HTC G1) was an exciting EVENT. Now this new android comes out and Im like MEH.

      • Sephiroth_4

        Cue the Echo! ….right guys??? …guys…hello??….anyone??? :P

In all seriousness, I’m STILL waiting so I am excited to upgrade for a phone that’ll run silky smooth ROMs

…but we all know the battery technology is the real killer :( As soon as that catches up, hybrids, phones, and all technology will exciting again.

      • Anonymous

Whats funny Nokia, Palm (HP), Apple, and MS have launch events for phones that are more identical than this one.. Go search all of their last events real quick, Ill wait..

    • Corey

Yes having choices on what your phone looks like and how it functions is really just the worst…

    • Pnicuh

It’s not a Droid phone, Droid has that red eye brand ppl these days.

  • http://twitter.com/hijackerjack Rohil Thopu

Eh. New snapdragon is still a8.. move on to a9 already qualcomm!!

  • http://twitter.com/mistercarter7 Mike Gonzalez

1.2 ghz dual core processor… is it really necessary to use that battery drainer just to brag about the extra 200mhz over the competition in commercials??
when will HTC learn that specs aint everything and it’s better to optimize the software?

    • Palmiros

When will HTC learn that specs aint everything? The same day that people stop buying their phones due to the fact that the batteries cant make it through half a day.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Simon-Yu/100000989859895 Simon Yu

You know why it’s clocked at 1.2Ghz right? It’s too match the Tegra 2′s because the processors are ArmV8′s and the ones in the other processors to come out are ArmV9 so they overclock it to make up for the Clock Cycles.

      • http://twitter.com/mistercarter7 Mike Gonzalez

so you basically saying these new “snapdragon” processors are pure outdated crap, right?!

      • AJA

I’m gonna go ahead a skip the fact that all you’re talking about here ARE, in fact, SPECS, and let that be a display of why specs at least matter. But it sounds like you don’t know much about HTC. Sense (3.0 and counting on this device) is by FAR the best UI available. If you ever spent some talking about software, you might realize that.

      • http://www.searingarrow.com AlienSix

So if and when iPhone 5 has the A5 are you going to bitch?

      • Anonymous

Get a life bro, not for me you.. That outdated crap is better than what you have now and probably your next phone.. And if it’s not who gives shyt.. Its a damn phone

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000722296108 Herman Guerra

    boring.

    • http://twitter.com/BillySuede Billy Suede

      much like your “argument”

  • Anonymous

The back of this thing reminds me of Kratos’ face in God of War.

  • Sean76

Android is becoming so annoying with how many phones they’re pushing out every month.

    • Fast

I know, I hate having choices. How am I supposed to know which of the two networks to pick?!

    • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR6HpRLyzMY Walter Sobchak

Android isn’t pushing out any phones. HTC, Motorola, dell, Acer, Samsung, hauwei, Sony, kyocera, Lenovo, LG, meizu and zte push out phones.
Do you get mad that new TVs, laptops, or cars come out?

    • Anonymous

wow..so u get pee’d off cos more more phones are released….really..is that the reson…
have a sit in with a psychologist or something mate…really ..sincere advice here…
might find some deep rooted issues related to iSheep-ism or something…

  • Italiankid

iOS is dated. iPhone 4 is dated.
    Apple fanboys are dated.
    Enough said.

    Hate Apple!

  • AM123

    Battery size??

  • Josiah

Looks a lot like my EVO to me. But probably with worse battery life.

  • http://twitter.com/m3th4mp Richard Ward

2.1, 2.2, 2.3.. Sense, Motoblur, Touchwiz… Android seems so fragmented these days. I understand it’s important to stand out and not simply create devices for Google but come on now.

    • katiepea

fragmented = jobsesque way of trying to make options sound unappealing.

    • heyhey

not just fragmented but it’s also kinda stagnant and aimless …it almost feels like google is this amateur tech dweeb who created an experimental OS and is now playing with it just for the heck of experimenting new things and not for the improvement of the user experience. think of the whole NFC nonsense…..android users have been grieving and demanding for a better UI, a better music player, and hardware accel, better video support, and yet where and how google spends its resources and time? NFC!!!! yup, ignore the demands of the android users…let’s just have fun experimenting …let’s add NFC….android is a big mess, seriously. and most android fans know android’s shortcoming and they lament them but they just want android to succeed so bad…….it’s kinda like molder’s “i want to believe” poster……this is what android fans feel…..”i want android to be good and succeed” …..but google practically gives them the finger with every “update” …oh yeah, and dont even get me started on the whole update scams forcing android fans to buy a new phone every freakin 6 months….

  • heyhey

sure this is great hardware and all….but it’s still android:
    1-choppy scroll and laggy touchscreens
2- no hardware accel for UI
    3-no quality apps
    4-ugly geeky UI….

    HTC pyramid shmyramid…..still android….still sux

    • Madcow06

      Troll much?

  • Anonymous

    Dual-core A8 in H2 of 2011?

    Meh.

  • Toodles

I’ve had every major release of a phone since the Nexus One. I’m over it. In my opinion that was the game changing phone. My Evo is wifi device right along w/ my Droid 2, Incredible, and my broke Fascinate. Now I have a cheapo Optimus S because Android isn’t worthy at this point.

    • Madcow06

So you have an Evo, Droid 2, and an Incredible laying around but you use an Optimus S? That makes a whole lot of sense, and your reason is because android isn’t worthy? Then why don’t you get a non android phone?

  • Madcow06

the back of that phone is crazy ugly.

  • http://twitter.com/androidhelpers Android Helpers

Man.. screw the EVO 3D where can I get this beautiful phone!

  • http://profiles.google.com/rmiscl50 Nelson Ferry

I just hope this phone doesn’t go the route of the desire hd. When that phone was leaking on every website, it was said that it was coming to tmobile uk then tmobile usa. We all know what happened there, no tmobile usa lovin. So for now I’ll believe when I can pre-order it.
