LG planning Optimus Big smartphone with 4.3-inch NOVA display

mobile

LG may soon be chasing HTC in the phones-with-massive-displays market. According to some leaked images and specs, LG has a new phone codenamed “Optimus Big” up its sleeve. The Optimus Big — as its name implies — sports a large 4.3-inch screen, a single-core 1GHz processor, a T-DMB TV tuner, and LG’s super bright and sharp NOVA display. Little else is currently known about the phone, although we can tell from the images that it at least sports a forward-facing camera for video chats. It also very likely runs some flavor of Android and appears that it could swallow the iPhone in one bite. If this thing ever makes it to the United States, and we doubt it will, we hope it comes amped up with some 4G and dual-core goodness. [Via Phone Arena]

Is it me or are all the names for the Android awesome phones getting cooler?

I mean, Optimus Big? For a guy like me, and most of the members of the Goofan (aka Apple Hater) Nation, with a penis envy, that name is massive win!

Norm and Big go together better than mytouch and Norm so this is a win. Plus its DROID so everyone wins.

If you think bigger = cooler then yea… otherwise, zzzzzzz

Talk about over compensating for something, Android…

I can’t tell if you’re trying to be funny or something, but what does LG’s design and manufacturing have to do with Android over compensating for anything?

…I guess that’s why the market for ‘big’ phones is shooting upwards, and why there are rumors of Apple buidling a bigger iphone.

/compensating for something, apple, and big smartphone users?

        oh please.

Who cares….. because another will come out right after this one then another right after that one and they all basically are the same. Slight design differences and they try to differentiate themselves but at the end of the day they are all pretty much the same. They do nothing but eat the sales of each other.

And you enjoy the discounts and top tech. Don’t complain…. FEAST!

If I wanted to choose between iphones…well, you get the idea.

      I can’t.

What is with the dual core fascination? My single core never has any trouble.

Future-proof.. just in case, kind of keeps your device up to par longer.. don’t you agree?

      • Anonymous

Nope the way the cell phone market moves nothing is future proof.

Wow, might as well put a bag phone in your pocket. This phone says “I’m a geek and don’t care what the world thinks.. now where’s the tape, my glasses need fixing”

A lot of us wear contacts now, no tape necessary, unlike your iPhone’s antenna…. Sorry, it had to be said.

      • http://www.droiddoes.com/ Norm

Walter you know better than that….the hipster apple types wear large black rimmed glasses and skinny jeans. Contacts would mean conforming!

How is this 4.3″ screen any bigger than my DroidX and all the other 4.3″ screens that have been out for a while now?

BGR (Biased Genius Report), allow me to spare you the task of reviewing this device: The LG BIG (or Grande, depending on your part of the country) is too BIG for our taste since, anything greater than 3.7″ is just gauche and, not to mention, weighs down and hangs through our iPants’ pocket just where our cojones should hang; we found the voice calls to be ‘tinny’ at best, probably due to size; while the NOVA display seemed intriguing to us, we still prefer a true retina display; and, while the phone seemed rectangular in shape, we just could not hold it the way we’re used to holding a phone and were baffled to say the least.

still not bigger than the dell streak
