BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.1 coming soon?

Exclusive

One of our BlackBerry sources just shot us over some information on the latest version of Desktop Manager, version 6.1. Besides bringing compatibility to upcoming BlackBerry handsets that will run OS 6.1, Desktop Manager 6.1 is also said to bring little enhancements and changes to the desktop application. One noticeable addition we caught? The ability to forget a previously backed up / synced device. See? Still using a BlackBerry has its perks from time to time. One more shot of the new Desktop Manager after the break.

Outlook 2010 x64 compatibility would be sweet.

Outlook 2010 x64 has worked fine since release 6.0.1.18 (bundle 21)

Hopefully this update will include the ability to remember what songs have been synced so it doesn’t have to sync everything, every time! Waiting 2 hours to get 10 new songs on my phone is a pain.

Wifi Sync is good but really I just plug in my phone and download my new songs or just copy the entire music folder and tell windows to skip diplicates

How about polishing your OS instead RIM.

    • Hi

What do you think “OS 6.1″ is, douche.

      • Str8up

I have to agree. RIM does need to step up their game and polish the OS. They were considered one of the top smart phones back in the day. If you happen to be an avid user of Blackberry products you would have noticed that year after year the OS does not seem to have dramtically changed, the look and added features maybe. But the only dramatic change to their product was the coming from the jogg wheel, to the trackball, and finally to the optical scroll. Let’s face it. RIM lost their wow factor. So now, in order for RIM to regain the marketshare we are now hearing rumors of RIM being capable to dowload Android apps? That there has there has to tell you something. At least the Playbook will make somewhat of an impression…

I have to disagree, since Apple released IOS in 2007, RIM has gone from OS 4 to OS 6, there have been huge changes and improvements. Mean while IOS has pretty much stayed the same. And soon QNX will be released. Now I am not saying OS6 is better then IOS, butI have to say based on the last 4 years it’s Apple IOS that has become stagnant, not RIM.

Most people don’t get they have developers that work on projects. The people that do desktop development are not the same ones that do the OS development. Its not like RIM says today stop working on the OS and work on the desktop part instead!

Correct me if I am wrong. At&t has not allowed the Bold 9700 to up date to OS 6.1 either over the Air or through Mac Desktop Manager?

    Who gives a shit.

      Obviously you do?

      BlackBerry uses do!

Blackberry used to be the bomb…before smartphones came out.

The internet used to be a great place until dumb people got computers.

    • BerryKing

By the way RIM was probably the first smartphone! Also the first to have brought email to mobile devices!

      • Scott

Nope it was the IBM Simon.

      • http://caspan.com Caspan

When RIM put email on the BB it was not “what’s your email” it was “do you have a email address” that’s how old the BB is and how early in the game it was!
