Apple schedules WWDC 2011 for June 6th in San Francisco

In a post on its official news site today, Apple announced that this year’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) will be held from June 6th through the 10th at San Francisco’s Moscone West conference center. The software-centric, annual event provides developers and enthusiasts a glimpse at what the Cupertino company’s software roadmap looks like. “At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS,” said Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Phil Schiller. “If you are an iOS or Mac OS X software developer, this is the event that you do not want to miss.” Interested parties can purchase tickets from Apple’s developer website.

      They are killing iOS, iPad and iPhone. I think it’s obvious that they haven’t sold many since Android came out. And the Goofans (aka Apple Haters) around the world say, GOOD RIDDANCE!

        I’ve heard rumors hear at Mountain View that Steve Jobs has contacted up about putting android on the iPhone and using iOS as a skin called iSense.

    All I have to say is that iOS5 better have file structure capability for business users. Email attachments, save attachments, select multiple attachements to send, save, and save to a folder I can actually use without a 3rd party app. If not lil green guy or back o palm.

      A better file system would be great, ANY kind of shared/common FS would really enable an already capable device. A revised notification system would be my second real request. My guess though is we’ll get the notification system well before we get a shared file system.

        Battery life and wifi issues caused me to dump a galaxy S and thunderbird. That’s the one thing android hardware is really lacking. Any suggestions?

        For apple yes. Other devices will be limited to 4.9.8, 4.5.6, 4.7.4, 4.8, 4.8.1, 4.6.9, 4.4.1, 4.3.2, & 4.4. Depending on the manufacturer and how soon they can rollout.

      ZAPATITO, not ONE of Apple’s hardware platforms (not iPhone, iPad, Macbook Pro, Mac Pro, iMac) is capable of running Android. They don’t have enough hardware power and are flawed anyway. We have tested a Mac Pro with 12 cores, 32GB of RAM and 1GB of GDDR5 and it got stuck, it was so slow. We couldn’t even make a phone call. Only hardware made by HTC, Motorola, Samsung, LG, Vizio, Acer, Dell, and some of the other Chinese and Taiwanese companies making Android phones are capable.

        You forgot battery life. The iPhone and iPad especially can not compared to one of the many wonderful anDROID options which all have exceptional battery life.

      The only problem is that Apple is not running out of Money like Rim is Lmao. Rim really has no other choice than to throw the towel, they got 2 CEOs and about 3 or 4 COOs, that’s not a good sign. Besides iOS not only has over 200k more apps then Android but they also have better apps from real developers, not just wall papers as apps.

    My guess is that Apple will announce the new ground-breaking iPhone 5 with a new revolutionary upgraded 1.0 MP Front Facing Camera, which Apple will demonstrate while they video live-stream the iNuptuals of two iHommes in White leather holding each other a certain way as they promise to love each other eternally and in full acceptance of any shortcummings.

        Lots of choice and lots of competition. So what if none of the manufacturers are, or will, make any money? Guess what? Google will finance them. Because that’s how Google rolls baby! Apple won’t finance its own employees.

    this could be the beginning of the convergence of iOS and MacOSX…

    making more sense too now of a later iPhone (4S? 5?) in the fall, with iOS 5 showcased in June… at some point, the yearly timing for releases starts to limit technology and/or increases risk of bugs (ie. antenna-gate) for completely revised product (like 3GS > 4).

    All this talk about cloud storage etc, I could care less. I have a 32gb iPod touch, that’s enough for me. Show me a major update to the notification system, TRUE multitasking, an iOS messenger program (that stays connected when I close out), a new lock screen, an updated version of the keyboard (not that it needs to be improved much), WIDGETS.

    Cloud storage sounds nice and everything but if that’s the “major revamp”, then IMO that’s pretty disappointing.
