Apple iOS 4.3.1 now available for download in iTunes

Breaking

Just as we reported, Apple’s latest mobile OS release, iOS 4.3.1 is now available for download for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Bad news for Verizon iPhone users, unfortunately — you’re still stuck with 4.2.6. The rest of you should hit iTunes to update your devices and let us know about anything new you come across, alright?

I’m probably missing out on something here, but what does Steve Jobs’ reading this blog have to do with you downloading the update?

      • http://www.geekydee.com Dwayne

        Sirpaul you wouldn’t understand

It beat NoDo to the market! (more or less)

  • sirpaul

BG has quite a few songs :)

PS I can already smell the haters coming with the “FRAGMENTATION!!!!!1!1! ZOMG” postings :]

  • Jizzle

    666 MB. AAAHHHH!!!

    • anDROIDfan

      You must be on Verizon!

I got 607.5MB…you must be cursed!

My brothers iPhone 4 got the same. 666 MB for the update. Does Satan have the iPhone 4 or what?

  • viewthis66

And they say Apple doesn’t have fragmented updates….

  • RobertSeattle

… Add “AT&T Users only” to your headline. I know it is below, but will save people time.

  • Booboolala2000

    Whats with the fragmentation?

    • Anonymous

Apple is trying to emulate Android by getting a different OS version on every single phone ever sold. It will be a tough challenge though, to achieve the galactic fragmentation that is android.

      • Booboolala2000

Fear not, they will do it. Give them time grasshopper. Can you play digdug on your possibly updated iphone?

  • @brettsir

Worked perfectly on my iPad. Failed on iPhone 4, restoring and trying again now.

  • Anonymous

Does Verizon need to test these updates before Apple can release them? I would not have bought a Verizon iPhone if I knew that there would be iOS fragmentation.

    • Rob

Verizon is all about controlling what gets put on there phones. They are probably holding out until they know that there is no more need to fix bugs. Remember, verizon store’s have service stations in store while att doesn’t. If big red allows unperfected os’s, then iPhone owners will come to them before they go to apple

      • http://twitter.com/Dodgerblue Dodgerblue

doesn’t matter if AT&T has service stations or not you still have to take your iPhone to the genius bar at the Apple store anyway. Same with Verizon for your iPhone

      • Ijames1000

Or Apple can’t update both phones because of network conflicts. I. Sure an update for CDMA iPhones will be released later.

  • Alexander530

Luv it. It seemed to have gotten rid of the inconsistencies with the speed of loading web pages. It’s much smoother now.

Damn, this update has to go through the manufactures, then to the carriers, and then finally to…wait what?

This just in! The update will not go through the manufactures, or through the carriers, but straight to the users!

Battery life down 10% in under an hour.

    • Markrubi

Wow 2% more in 5 mins now since posting my first comment. I thought better battery life was touted in this release?

    650.2 MB ?
    it’s a fix….
    not a new OS….
    ….
can some one write some review about this release…

    • Lasno

This fix has not cured the 3G connection issues

      • http://twitter.com/Dodgerblue Dodgerblue

not having that issue at all

      going from 4.3.0 to 4.3.1 on an AT&T iPhone4 and it’s a 666 megabyte download for me…

I’m ready for an iphone again. i had the first gen, when it came out years ago…

Verizon owners will also be stuck with iphone 4 in 3 months. lol

  • Shain

Ok…dumb question. In the screenshot I see the same rotation lock icon that I have on my iPad but I don’t have that option on my iPhone… Is this just a mock upmscreenshot?

    • Anonymous

double click the home button, swipe the multitasking bar from left to right (where the ipod controls are), it’s the icon on the left. It just doesn’t have a hardware button, like on the iPad.

      • Shain

        Thanks!

    Fragmentation.
