LG Optimus 3D passes FCC with T-Mobile 3G bands

3D

T-Mobile customers looking to get in on some trippy googly-eyed 3D action may not have long to wait. The FCC has just passed through a device called the LG P920, also known as the LG Optimus 3D. This new version features support for the AWS/PCS/WCDMA/HSPA bands, suggesting it could launch on T-Mobile in the United States. As a refresher: the Optimus 3D runs Android 2.2 (Froyo) and features a 1GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of on-board storage and two 5-megapixel cameras on the back for recording 3D and HD video. The Optimus 3D offers support for HSPA+ networks, so if it launches on T-Mobile we’ll likely see it tagged and glittered up with 4G branding. After all, AT&T just announced that it’s going to offer the LG Optimus 3D as the LG Thrill 4G “in the coming months.”

New phones on T-Mobile are going to have a limited life if the merger goes though. Customers will then have to buy an ATT device.

Perfect! Just in time to sign a new 2 year contract when in about a year AT&T will take over and they’ll probably turn off the HSPA.

I’ve heard this phone actually ships with “4G” capabilities for both AT&t and T-Mobile built in. So maybe this phone is future proof. Can you confirm this Todd?

how exactly would you hear, if you want it to pass woth att compability then say so, dont pass off false information as the truth

      • URAlwaysaSheep

Ummm, the person was asking for confirmation.

      • Neverthesheep

no “I’ve heard” is not asking for confirmation its implying that they actually heard someone say it or read it somewhere in which either case is a lie. Glad to see the dropouts attending this board.

soo since the g2x(optimus 2x) can be used on both att and t-mo bands why cant the optimus 3d???

I would be Extremely “Thrilled”!!!!!!!!!!!! if it did ship with both att and tmobile 4g radios.

The truth is if Tmobile can devise a way for current customers to be able to keep their devices and access the att 4g network even after the merger life would be so much easier for them. If I pay around $500 for a phone I do not want it to become obsolete in a year…Give me the HTC Pyramid or LG Optimus 3d but both with att+tmobile 4g radios (even if its just hspa+ 14.4 mbps) and keep hspa+ relevant even after LTE is up and running.
