T-Mobile: We do not offer the iPhone

General

As customer questions surrounding the proposed AT&T and T-Mobile merger mount, the latter has published a customer-facing frequently asked questions page in an effort to educate customers about what they can expect, and not expect, in the coming months. One of the specific queries T-Mobile addressed is the availability of Apple’s iPhone. In order to dispel any notions of a T-Mobile iPhone, the company issued the following statement:

T-Mobile USA remains an independent company. The acquisition is expected to be completed in approximately 12 months. We do not offer the iPhone. We offer cutting edge devices like the Samsung Galaxy S 4G and coming soon our new Sidekick 4G.

It seems as though enough antsy T-Mobile customers have posed the question — in the last 18 hours alone — that it needed to be officially addressed. The company has also started a thread in its official online forums for concerned parties to air out their frustrations, concerns, and questions.

    Dear AT&T,
We do not want your capped data or your iphone, we just want our plans to stay reasonable on your new network.

I think you meant “signed, the T-Mobile customers who love Android, all seven of which have no interest in the iPhone.”

        Oh snap! You go girl!

Wonder if T-Mobile not offering the iPhone is ATTs or Apple’s doing…

    • Anonymous

There is no iPhone for Tmobile’s 3G bands… They are just stating the obvious. I’m sure there’ll be one by the time the deal is done… June 2012.

      • sirpaul

But there wasn’t one for Verizon either, and now they have one. I thought the statement T-Mo made was referring to the future as well.

We can only hope that this merger does NOT go through. T-Mobile currently gives me for $60/month, 500 minutes with UNLIMITED texting and web. I’m sure it will be one of the first things to go after the merger. On top of that, This puts Sprint in a dubious position. They’ll have to merge with Verizon to “compete”, as they will probably scrap their Wimax implementation. This gives us a Duopoly with prices fixed by ATT and Verizon/Sprint. Not good for us as customers. Metro PCS and Cricket don’t count.

    • Securitywiz

Don’t say such blasphemy about sprint, let’s hope that day of merging with Verizon doesn’t come.

I wonder if you were a T-mobile customer in mid contract with the option to upgrade, if you could legally get by with switching to the iPhone on AT&T? I know you would get a bill for ditching the T-mobile contract but if you delayed payment and once this deal went through you could argue they were the same company or had made agreement to be. I wonder if you could avoid the cancellation fee with that?

    • Generatione

Nah. If it goes through run AT&T is buying all of tmobile’s assets and liabilities. Part of those assets are contracts like yours. Tmobile’s s
Will still “exist” meaning your contract is still valid, but they will own it.

        I’m actually a hottie, not a sweetie! :-)

But but but Tmobile had the first beta DROID and continues to get beta DROIDS….why would anyone want an iPhone??!!!!!!????!??

    • Anonymous

Because they’re not smart enough to own and use an android phone or tablets!

      • Anonymous

        Because Andriod is ass

      • Rin32

I have an iPhone and iPad, I like Apple, they work, it’s easy and they have improved my life and work. My friend has a Droid. She likes it, it has improved her life. I don’t think that I’m too stupid to use Android I just don’t like it as much as I like iOS. The only thing stupid is that because you use one device or another you’re an idiot for not using the ‘right one’. That’s what competition and technology are all about! Different strokes for different folks. I think android is less than desirable but it has some cool points and I’m glad that you like it so much GoosfanAK good for you, I’m not some drone Apple fanboy because I like Apple better! Please get a grip, we already have enough to hate each other for and this kind of stuff is ridiculous.

    GOOD ! ! !

and i hope they never will offer the iphone.

god i hate that stupid piece robot shit.

Well.. I don’t hate the iphone.. My wife has one.. It is a nice phone.. BUT, I am sick of how it is more of a trend.. Meaning people own it-but won’t ever use it more than a web browser and text machine.. There are a TON of great phones out there and I hate to see everyone flock to just one device..

I also despise people that talk down otherphones without having AnY experience using it (or are bias to begin with–look at ps3/xbox360/wii fanboys), hence the Windows 7 phone haters who are usually spewing WRONG information about it-or just talking bad to the people that like it/own it/want it, the iphone haters who hate for no real good reason, and the Android haters as well, dont forget RIM..
Either way, some people act like they own the opposing company and/or have stock.. TO ALL THOSE TROLLS: YOUR A F********** CONSUMER. Enjoy the phones, but DONT put other peoples S*** down just because you dont’ own it, or because your a TROLL/HATER! I think the people that talk S about windows 7 phones are probably the worse at this point..

before you start beating on the “you’ve never used it” drum. My wife and i both own iPod Touch. 2 of my co-workers own iPhones (one a 3Gs and one a iPhone4). My Sister and brother in law uses iPhone4′s coming from iPhone3GS’s….

i am very accustom to the iOS platform. It’s a POS. There is not user feed back, you cannot customize it at all, the application base SUCKS the keyboard SUCKS the browser SUCKS. They only reason i got it is because it handles my media (music) very well. Other than that it’s NOTHING special. Heck even the guy that owns the iPhone4 refers
Android as a “Mini Computer in your pocket”…

Call me a troll if you will. I’ll only bad mount products i’ve used. Look through my post and fine one regarding WM7. You will not find it… I’ve used WM6.x, I’ve used countless blackberries, and i’ve used android 1.5-3.0.0…so bash from a users standpoint, not as a fanboies stand point.

      • Rin32

I wish I was rich enough to own them all. I think every platform has it’s good and bad. I haven’t had a chance to play with the windows phone but I’d love to check it out. I like gadgets I have just had to choose what I think looks and works the best for me considering the contracts and fees you must pay to operate them all. All I know is my iPhone changed my life 3 years ago and I have really been interested in learning about all kinds of OS since then. That’s what’s so awesome about a really great item, it peaks your intrest and makes you curious and ultimately expands your horizons. I’m what you might call a junior techie trying to learn as much as I can. Definitely a fun hobby for me.

Not surprisingly, AT&T has yet to post an FAQ stating they do not offer the Nexus S. Oh yeah, that’s right. No one cares about the Nexus S.

    • Anonymous

      How dare you?

    • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR6HpRLyzMY Walter Sobchak

      You are just priceless!

    • Anonymous

Your whit is on point today.

  • Tonypizzle

this seems to be saying that t-mobile will not offer the iphone but once the deal closes and finalizes tmobile will become att and then tmobile customers will be able to get the iphone

    • Anonymous

Your probably correct.. iphone will come to Tmobile. At this point-it should just stick w/ ATT and Verizon.. Why not switch carriers if you want an iphone so badily and your on Tmobile.. If someone REALLY wants an iphone just switch carriers already.. Verizon seems to have the best coverage, Tmobile does have better pricing in my opinion so that would be the only reason I would go and stick w/ tmobile.. But like i said above and what Tmobile mentioned, there are plenty of OTHER devices that work great-

    Dear NY TMO Customers:

On behalf of our NYC AT&T employees and customer base, we would like to welcome you to our network. We hope you have enjoyed being able to use your TMO phone while in the city, and look forward to providing you with substandard network capacity, dropped calls at least 50% of the time, and marginal data speeds of < 0.50Mbps/down (on those rare occasions that you are able to connect once migrated to AT&T).

Upon completion of this merger, please feel free to dial 611* if you have any questions or concerns.

*If you cannot connect to our customer service representatives, please move to a convenient location** 50-75 miles from the center of NYC.

**Please do not select a convenient location that is along the Amtrak corridor between NYC and Phildadelphia, due to the numerous dead spots on that route, up to and including a complete absence of EDGE*** coverage in many areas.

***EDGE service^^ also not provided in many parts of Michigan and northern Minnesota. Please also carry a VZW handset should you want service in those areas.

^^Service may require new TMO customers to purchase, at their expense, an AT&T 'hotspot' and incur additional data service fees for use of said hotspot. At AT&T, we believe strongly that the customer benefits by paying for hotspot service carried over the internet, which relieves our network for others not to be able to use.

    Welcome to AT&T!

    • Anonymous

Any T-Mobile network coverage in NYC will become part of AT&T. So whatever T-Mobile coverage is there will just compliment AT&T.

“We do not offer the iPhone. We offer cutting edge devices like the Samsung Galaxy S 4G and coming soon our new Sidekick 4G.”

    Hahaha awesome, so true.

If this deal goes through, and I guess all is said and done April 2012, don’t tell me there aren’t going to be anyone on TMO who’s going to not ask, Oh, can I have an iPhone now??

  • ColoradoGray

I did have a customer last night say, jokingly, that he likes being on t-mobile because he can tell his wife she can’t have an iPhone.
