Secure mobile payments appeal to 94% of North Americans

mobile

A recent study conducted by payment solution provider Mobio Identity Systems suggests that North Americans are eager to see mobile payments become a reality. At the same time, however, security is a top concern for the majority of potential users. Mobio recently surveyed 1,085 people across North America and found that the overwhelming majority — 94% — would use mobile payments if they knew the system was secure. Mobio’s study also found that 73% of respondents said security was their main concern regarding mobile payments, while 12.4% said simplicity and 8.5% said speed. As such, it’s safe to say companies looking to bring mobile payments to the mainstream market must focus a tremendous amount of effort on security. As luck would have it, this study just so happens to come from a firm that specializes in mobile payment security solutions. Will wonders never cease?

So you would have no desire to bump your phone with a soda machine to get a soda? No desire to purchase your dinner without handing a waitress/waiter your credit card with its numbers raised so they can see them better? No desire for a more secure form of payment so that the possibility of fraud and the pain you would go through to correct it doesn’t happen?

Are you freaking kidding me???????? Or is the audience here too young to own a credit card?????? This is a no brainer in the evolution of payments. The credit card has been a source of billions of dollars in fraud. Fraud that inevitably makes its way back to consumers to pay. The only thing that needs to be done right is the ability to do something like a private PIN so that if the phone is stolen, payments can’t be made (or at least a PIN or something similar required for purchases over x number of dollars)

I love NFC – use it all the time in Shanghai. Goes quick and easy, and I never have to dig for cash or a card.

So you hold your phone in your hand all day long?

I did not vote in this survey, and I am a North American. Hmm… how accurate can this be?

i didn’t vote on this either nor did my family or friends that I know off. They are either pulling statistics out their ass (most likely) or surveyed a small number of NA and surveyed them and assumed that their opinion’s were representative of all of NA, not only is this false, but is highly inductive.

1000 people are not 94 percent of North America.
