AT&T drops price of 64GB iPad 3G to just $529; 16GB model now $429

Retail

AT&T on Friday dropped the price of Apple’s original iPad Wi-Fi + 3G models to all-time lows. While supplies last, AT&T is offering the 64GB iPad Wi-Fi + 3G model for just $529 — $300 below the tablet’s initial launch price. AT&T lists the steep discount as an online-only price. The 16GB iPad Wi-Fi + 3G model is now just $429 online while supplies last, and the 32GB model is sold out, which may explain why its logical price point is now occupied by the 64GB iPad. Remaining inventory of the original iPad models is thought to be extremely low at this point, so it is unclear how long these deals will last.

I bet the PlayBook will match…. or they found out the PlayBook pricing and they matched it.

its seems like everyone setting tablet prices are all downright crazy, the better made and performing product is cheaper by 100eds of dollars. maybe blackberry will get it right

This is the first generation iPad. They ALWAYS drop price of the old version that was sold up until new one came out to get rid of old stock. If it sold close to iPad 2 price, NOBODY would buy them. iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3Gs were all dropped over $100 after the new one came out. 3Gs could be bought for $49 on contract. This drop has nothing to do with competition … it’s how companies clear stock in the midst of an upgraded product. If they dropped price of iPad 2 I would agree with you. But there is no sign of that happening.

The iPad must not be selling too well. Oh well. Maybe I’ll stop being an Apple fanboy. I give up.

The iPad is probably not selling too well. It’s a year old and the iPad 2 is out now, which is not the one you get with this deal.

The iPad is selling very well, sold out 4-5 week wait time. It’s just at&t that’s not selling well.

I dunno about you, but I’d be really peeved if I just bought a 32GB only to find I could have gotten a 64GB for the same price a week later.

On the other hand, that’s the nature and risk of clearance-type sales.

      Original iPad, not iPad 2.

Yep. Thus the clearance sale comment

What the shit are you serious? I would have gladly spent an extra $30 for the extra 48GBs. Or are they doing iPad contracts now?

EDIT: Never mind. This is the original iPad. Do not want.
