Verizon’s HTC ThunderBolt handset on sale today

mobile

The day is finally here — as if we even have to remind you. Verizon Wireless’ first LTE handset, the HTC ThunderBolt, is now available on store shelves and online, ready to take home. If you plan on being one of the very first consumers to acquire the 4G handset, and suck up some of those virgin LTE airwaves, you have options. Verizon Wireless, Best Buy, and a host of others will be selling the handset for $250 on-contract, but if you don’t mind waiting for the 4.3-inch monster to be mailed to you, Wirefly will be selling the device for $199.99 and Amazon Wireless has it priced at a very affordable $179.99. Who doesn’t like saving a little money? If you’re heading out to grab some lightning today, good luck.

So what did you buy it with, contract-wise?

      • http://twitter.com/JWort93 Joseph Wortman

They are only charging $199 for people who are renewing on verizon. Just a regular 2-year contract.

I’m a little skeptic of your claim of being able to buy for $199 or don’t understand how your did this. Are you passed your 2 year contract date? I still have 6 months left in my contract and am able to buy only for $599. I am willing of course to extend my contract for 2 years from today.

I would appreciate step by step instructions on the order process on getting this phone for $199. I

If you walk into a Verizon Corporate Store (not an “Authorized Retailer”, e.g., Best Buy or any other type of physical “Authorized Retailer”) the pricing is as follows for a 2-Year New Contract, Upgrade, or “Add Line”: $249.99. If your account is “coded” with New Every 2 Eligibility, depending on your NE2 eligibility amount, you may receive additional in-store discounts of $50, $100, $150, respectively. The amount of your NE2 is calculated based on the original handset/device that was enrolled into the program or any subsequent device upgrade meeting the NE2 eligibility Since you are shy 6 months, I would call Customer Service [today], speak with a Supervisor if necessary, and ask for a “Manager Exception”, explain that you would very much like to upgrade today because ‘this is not the phone of your dreams; it’s the one after that’! Customer Service has to approve the “Manager Exception” first and your account has to be coded and noted accordingly; worst case scenario, you may have to order directly through Customer Service. Keep in my, the on-line price this morning was $219.99 with a 2 year contract and, of course, should be able to apply any NE2 credit towards the upgrade.

P.S. “Manager Exception” should still exist.

I got to play with one yesterday and let me just say 4G plus Widgets is a dream come true. I will be picking one up today and slamming lots of Guinness with it.

Cool…. But i still think this phone should be a BOGO at that price. Just like the samsung facinate was at launch. This thunderbolt lacks too much to sell for $250. My $150 is for Bionic.

was a line of about 8 of us at a store in Jax…. 2nd one to buy and since i was 6month shy of my NE2 date, it was $199+tax…. person in front of me had the old NE2 for $100 and purchased it for $99+tax…. this thing is crazy fast and build quality is that of most motorolas!! top notch device!

  • Big Winner

I paid $119 online with the NE2 credit. I was expecting $149 ($249-$100 NE2 credit). Was in such a rush to order before heading out for work that I didn’t look at the details as to how it came out to $120 instead of $150.

What choice is there besides this phone? Is the pipeline in the next 3 months worth waiting for or is Thunderbolt the way to go? There are not a lot of 4g Verizon choices right now?

    Got it ,love it !

  • hb4dg

VZW is allowing Customers to buy the phone for $320.00 on a 1 year contract, or $249.00 on a @ year contract!!!!!

  • Woodson86

I orderered mine for $199.00 with a two year contract. I am about 15 months into my last contract. But I hold the primary line with 3 additional ones. That “perk” is gone now (that sucks). I am replacing an Omnia II so I hope this holds me for 20 months.
