Street Fighter and Sonic for iPhone on sale, all proceeds donated to Japan relief

Gaming

iOS gamers: You can now do your part to donate to Red Cross for Tsunami relief efforts in Japan by downloading any Sonic the Hedgehog title and/or Street Fighter IV for iPhone or the iPod touch. Sega’s games include Sonic Spinball ($0.99), Sonic the Hedgehog ($1.99), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ($2.99), and Sonic the Hedgehog 4th Episode 1 ($3.99) — 100% of the proceeds from any downloads through March 20th will be given to Red Cross’ Disaster Relief in Japan. Similarly, Capcom cut the price of Street Fighter IV to $0.99, and all of revenues from downloads through March 22 will be given to charity in Japan. We haven’t had a chance to play any of the Sonic titles, but we’ll be downloading a few today. Street Fighter IV takes us back to our Sega days, though, and it’s definitely worth a download. Hadouken!

Wish they offered these games on Android. I would gladly pay to buy them!

I would buy them on Android too.

This is nice and all, but it’s clearly a cheap way to get a high amount of downloads to be a “top paid.”

And when they do get to be a “top paid” app, more people will see the sale and purchase these apps. The more purchase, the more money goes to Japan.

you may yet see this kind of quality games on some android devices but not all keep praying and hoping for now..

Street Fighter IV is mine. I’m happy to donate to the people of Japan. They need as much help as they can get. Donate through any organization that gives 100% of proceeds to the victims of this terrible tragedy!

Ahh Sonic, that takes me back to the good ol’ days of Sega..

Does Apple donate their 30% as well?

thats a good question but it is asking you to donate your first gen ipad to the red cross, lol

    • Biggles

That’s a good question, and the answer is most likely NO because it’s transparent and overlooked. I’m sure Cupertino’s approach is that if you want the full amount going to Japan, you should pay 30% more for the app.

Sweet! Will be downloading street fighter. This is a great thing Capcom is doing here.

    God bless Japan.

Wow very impressed, caocom has done a fantastic job of getting this game to iphone. I want this game when I can have this game in UK??

So this is what an iOS gaem looks like? The controls and your hands cover up the fighters on screen. And apple thinks this is a best gaming platform?

Yeah, Street Fighter IV totally takes me back to those Sega days… back when Sega used to have Street Fighter IV.
