Nokia files patent for N8-like tablet

Tablets

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has published a patent filing that is both new and familiar. Initially submitted by Nokia in May of 2010, the patent in question is for a tablet device that bears an extremely strong resemblance to Nokia’s N8 handset. From the drawing we can make out a 3.5mm headphone jack, and several additional ports on the device’s top — we’re assuming at least one of which is a HDMI-out port. The schematic is likely for a MeeGo or Symbian based device the will, in all likelihood, never see the light of day. As with all things Nokia that occurred before February 11, 2011, it is unclear whether or not this project has been shelved. There are a few more drawings of the device after the jump, have a look for yourself.

Thanks, J.B.

Apple is SO AMAZING and AWESOME, yeah right! You are so brainwashed to believe such crap. For example the new iPad 2 is leaking AMAZING and AWESOME light! That is really cool isn’t it!

It also seems to own 2xUSB ports. Well, Nokia and Sony Ericsson should get into the Tablet market with a solution, Sony Ericsson with Android, and Nokia, unclear, with ¿MeeGo? The Tablet hysteria begins in 2011, 2010 was totally for iPad, but this year all manufacturers should have one option in their portfolio, and finnish people know it. Since Microsoft-Nokia agreement, is difficult to assure the MeeGo Tablet or the Symbian one will be part of the reality, although Windows 7 is an option but maybe not the best to directly compete with Xoom, Optimus Pad, Galaxy Tab or PLayBook according to weight, mobility and battery life features.

We will see what happens in the Nokia’s World.

It’ll probably have Meego and an Intel Chip. Might be able to install other x86 OSs on there.
