HTC Prime Windows Phone image and specs leak

mobile

It finally looks like the first round of Windows Phone 7-powered devices unveiled last year will be getting some company soon. CTIA should finally bring us some new Windows Phones when it kicks off next week, and we may now be seeing preliminary details leak out as the show draws near. The full touchscreen HTC Ignite broke cover earlier and now we catch a glimpse of its cousin, the HTC Prime. According to an unconfirmed report, the Prime features a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen, 512MB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera and a slide-out QWERTY keypad. The phone looks sleek and stylish, and it should be a welcome addition to the Windows Phone 7 family. We’ll be on the look out for it at CTIA, where we’ll be on hand to cover all the latest devices as they’re unveiled.

Very nice looking hardware! Unfortunately, the lack of landscape support in many cases in WP7 is sort of a bummer for these landscape keyboard phones.

Is there seriously no landscape mode? What would be the point of the keyboard then?

In many cases such as the home screens and many apps there is no landscape mode. Things like messaging and email do support it.

Seriously, that’s why I sent back my Touch Pro 2 in October 2009; only messaging, email, camera, and video playback supported Landscape mode. Or, whenever the keyboard was extended. By the way, Microsoft only began this lack of Landscape mode with Windows Mobile 6.1 onward; earlier versions of Windows Mobile, i.e., Windows Mobile 2003SE, WM5, WM6, respectively, all had a setting in “Screen” properties to set Home Screen to Landscape mode permanently; there was even an icon on the “Home” screen in some cases to rotate screen. Thanks, Microsoft!!!

the TP2 with wm 6.5 is a rock solid phone with no issues.  The only thing they F-d up on is not putting the snapdragon in it.  Having said that I cannot wait to get my new version… it’s about time VZW got an updated model in the next 6-9 months.

Wonder when wp7 devices will be coming out w/Front facing cameras? Seems like that’s the only thing missing when compared to the other top 2 operating systems….

They can’t. That would cause “fragmentation.”
They all have to have the same processor, same resolution ect. You won’t see dual cores for a very long time either.
