Verizon’s ThunderBolt to launch March 17th, tweets HTC sales manager [updated]

mobile

An eagle-eyed reader has directed our attention to an interesting tweet published by Imran Shahid, an HTC regional sales manager handling Verizon accounts. According to Shahid, HTC’s ThunderBolt handset will launch on Verizon Wireless next Thursday, March 17th. The aforementioned timeline predates our prognostication by a mere four days, but we’re sure that won’t upset you all that much. We’ve reached out to HTC and will update this post with any comment it provides.

UPDATE: That didn’t take long. Mr. Shahid has removed the tweet from his account.

I can’t stand the suspense any longer. The experience this offers over the DROID Incredible is going to be unreal.

the phone might as well be called the HTC unreal, really. thunderbolt as too many syllables. HTC really takes android and does something spectacular to it by adding widgets and special features like orientation sensing, these things no other developer is allowed to do on android really differentiate HTC and elevate it in terms of market traction.

I’m a bit surprised that VZW isn’t marketing the HELL out of this device…I mean, their first 4G LTE handset? You’d think they’d be making a big deal!…Unless they’re not confident in either the product or the LTE….hmmm….

I think they are marketing it quite loudly: lots of television commercials in primetime, big spreads in Best Buy flyers, pamphlets that talk about it. The thing is they’re just not RELEASING the blasted thing. :-(

I’ve seen a couple commercials, but I expect the original DROID media saturation I guess. Hmmm

I will believe it when I see it, no, I will believe it when I have it in my hands. With this phone, seeing is not always believing.

Sounds like a great date to me. My billing cycle ends on the 20th with AT&T. At which point, I can go return my Atrix, switch over to VZW and walk out with a faster, better network and a sweet new phone.

And the BS continues! If vzw would only come out and say something already! Just plain stupid if u ask me…
