HTC ThunderBolt to launch on March 21st?

Exclusive

We’ve just heard from two independent sources that the HTC ThunderBolt is now scheduled to launch on March 21st, following repeated delays. While our tipsters don’t have proven track records in this case, the date lines up with an earlier report that noted a March 21st release date briefly featured on HTC’s Facebook page. We’ll see soon enough!

You would think if they are going to launch this on the 17th they could have given it an Irish name…..the McThunderbolt…Oh well

This phone and plan will be ridiculously expensive. Mostly the plan, The plans for 4G on Verizon will be pathetic, you wll have to sell your first born to maintain service. I am very happy with my very steady 5mb DL and 1.4mb UL on my Nexus One from T-Mobile. Every week or so the speeds are getting faster and they have not turned up the after burners yet. You can pay 125.00 a month and I will pay my 80.00 for everything. They just increased the data to 10 mb before they cut your speed. T-Mobile is the best buy out there. The service is the best and they keep getting great phones. T-Mobile put Android on the map, support them.

Have you seen their 4G plans for wireless cards/usb dongles? $10 cheaper than its 3G counterpart. Get educated before commenting. I know it is a foreign concept, but it helps!

Been there done that, TMOBILE SUCKS!!!!!

They should have called it the HTC CLAP. Runs Android, and it hurts when you pee.

  • Donnydon

    • Bunchridaz

Then why are u here on this site?? If android is so horrible u should never have been lead to this page.

LOL, the insiders with a proven track record have been wrong every time, so now we’re going to waste everyone’s time with emails from people without proven track records. Good call by the Boy (Genius) Who Cried Wolf.

Thought they only launched new phone on THURSDAYS.

Hey, with all these super-powered high-end smartphones slated for release in the near future, here’s a suggestion for today’s Throwback Thursday:

“Remember iPhone and your very own personal “Home” button and iTunes sync’?”

    • Tim242

One Thursday in the not so distant future : )

  • kman

    any news on canada?

Yes, there are ten provinces and three territories that, combined together, make up the world’s second-largest country by area. Geographically, it is located north of The United States of America in the North American continent.

    • nofriendofdeb

As far as I know, it’s still there.

    Another Delay

    Surprise, Surprise

It’s the “before the first half — before the second half of the year, by the end of the second quarter.” Which by then, second half of the year model will be out. I Can’t believe big Red is the last carrier to be with a 4G handset actually out publicly.

  • Dustin Knowlton

Lol, got a voicemail from best buy today regarding my preorder, girl said it would definitely be out before the end of march.

    • nofriendofdeb

      What year?

  • KCRic

I don’t know BGR, what’s the date on the calendar app’s icon?

  • Pete

true story, the goverment made vzw wait to launch the TB because it couldn’t track and moniter vzw’s LTE spectrum.

  • scadole

My vzw rep said next week which would leave the 17th a viable release…. but if they do not announce release before monday…. i would assume it will move to the 21st. If this phone is not released before April, I am going to buy a used Dinc and wait out the end of my contract to see what the nexus s plus on sprint is going to look like.

I love verizon’s service, though expensive, but this is friggin ridiculous.

Most of the comments (Trolls?) here miss the point. The overwhelming majority of smartphone users are average folk who don’t – repeat don’t – care about benchmarks or 4G vs 3G or surfing much anyway. Unless your company is paying for the service (an extra $30 a month minimum), all people want to do is have a reasonably priced phone that makes calls, texts and has a few cool features. The technical pluses or minuses are only important to geeks. No one really cares what you think, as long as middle-America buys it…….

  • Proudofmy2boys

this device is designed for LTE (lte wont launch probably for a year) will it be backwards compatable on 3G and then LTE when it becomes available????
