T-Mobile overhauling data plans, adds 10GB webConnect option

General

Intel gathered by blog TmoNews suggests that the nation’s fourth largest wireless carrier, T-Mobile, will be revamping its webConnect data plans. The new monthly offerings will offer users 200MB, 5GB, and 10GB of data, and retail for $29.99, $49.99 and $79.99 respectively. The new webConnect plans, which will take affect March 13th, will also allow users to bundle existing voice line plans with webConnect plans for additional savings. When bundled, the prices drop to $23.99 for the 200MB plan, $39.99 for 5GB plan, and $63.99 for 10GB plan. Currently, T-Mobile only offers a 200MB plan for $24.99 and a 5GB plan for $39.99.

All carriers are such a fucking rip-off. They all want more and more and give us less and less.

This is for an add on card, NOT the Data for a phone!! Totally crap reporting. They need to explain what the are talking about. TMobile offers an UNLIMITED plan for just $30. Best deal out. And if you go over they MIGHT slow you down. I go over 5GB every month and have never been charged extra. My best so far is 12GB with NO extra fees.

    T-MOBILE RULES!!!!

Netflix on a WP7 phone is a great way to test the abilty of a network and T-Mobile has not let me down yet.

Congrats on finding service. That is wild.

Congrats on being why Capps and throttling are being put in place. 12 Gigs, really? Are you allergic to wifi? There is no need to blow through 12 gig a month on a cellphone. Sorry if it sounds like I’m judging how you use your phone but we need to realize that the days of blowing through big outs of data are over. It may fly on T Mo for a little while longer, due to low numbers of data customers as compared to the others, but as they add more data users they will be forced to rethink their plans as well. Data caps are the future. It sucks being the future will be more data centric with videos moving to HD and video calling becoming more main stream not to mention as screens become larger with better resolution services like Netflix and Amazon will be the norm. So if you are using 12 gigs now, what will be your usage then?
Again nothing personal but 12 gigs is insane. Enjoy it while you can.

Data caps are the future? What a load of crap. The future is innovation. Innovation will take place, and 12GBs over 4g/5G/6G (whatever is out at the time) will be nothing.

Maybe they will change their plans, but what happens when a competitor comes in and has better technology and can put out 100Gb+ over a mobile connection without any issues? The current companies will have to play catch up.

I wouldn’t know how to use extra data here, as T-Mobile has not added any new territory to their 3G network in my state since they launched 3G years ago. It’s still only available in one of the two major cities. They have great EDGE coverage though.

It will change again to whatever Sprint ‘s matrix for data is once they sell out to them. Within the next 6 months Sprint will own them after the pay about 6 billion and give T Mo a 50% stake in the new company. Many will laugh as well as list the many ways it can’t happen because one is GSM and the other is CDMA but in reality it makes sense. I think the tipping point was the results of 4th quarter. If they had not lost so many customers they may have tried to keep going but being they lost and will continue to lose papa DT (parent company) has seen enough. Once they figure out and agree what T Mo is really worth we can all say goodbye to old magenta.

Guess I beat BGR to this story this morning

    Those prices are absolutely criminal

    What a joke

When I lose my unlimited for my iPhone, I have no idea where I am going to go. I will not support a company with laughably low caps that are put in place STRICTLY to screw consumers

If you’re on ATT, you’ve already lost your unlimited. These aren’t plans for mobile phones, they’re for mobile cards (IE: USB plug in cards for laptops).
