The iPad is the best product available on the Market and will be for a long time. So far no competition has released a competitive product in volume. The iPad is the most widely adopted and best for the task. And for those of you who are looking for the tablet to replace your laptop, maybe some day, but that is not there purpose. And for the record for about 90% of the users a tablet is all you need.

Waited out the first iPad, but I’m gonna order the iPad 2 on Friday. I haven’t owned an Apple product since my old B&W click-wheel iPod, but I’ve been intrigued by tablets since I was a kid. I’ve looked at the other tablets. Too many bad experiences with Android OS to even consider a Google tablet. The HP and RiM tablets do look decent. It’s clear as day that everyone is jumping onto the tablet market now BECAUSE of Apple, not that they invented the idea, they just made $$ on them. Maybe a future HP or RiM tablet will be worth a look in a year or two, but for now, its clear that this market belongs to Apple.

I like their equipment (the previously-mentioned B&W clicky-wheel iPod only just finally died a year ago) and they have more apps & games than everyone else combined. I know RiM fans are especially sensitive to the “apps” idea since they rarely get decent games or apps, (I traded in my p.o.s. android for a Blackberry, so I know first hand what to expect from both) but let’s be honest: most gamers buy console A over console B or buy a PC over a Mac because of the stuff you can get for it. Android just gets ports and malware, so no need to bring THEM up. RiM will finally get some games, but a fraction of what’s out there on the iPad already.

I don’t know who invented tablets, but Apple’s first tablet produced and sold was in 1979.

The iPad 2 was announced behind the curve. Thinner? Dual-core? Cameras? …that’s it. No, thanks. Give me a WiFi-only XOOM.

    It’s a losing battle honeycomb.

    • Honeynook

      Really?

Just like how Android just fucking stomped on iOSs face as far as sales are concerned? More products > One product. Honeycomb just came out, it too, will stop on the iOS as far as sales are concerned.

Competition is a good thing, you sheep. Go back to your room, little boy.

  • Knottyrope

Playbook will be the only one for me.

Hey was I right did motorola sell tens of dozens of the xoom yet?

  • Mtimmerman4

Moto Xoom after more apps and flash installed

  • BruthaBeige

Ive played with both…. and honestly, I like the iPad better vs the Motorola Xoom. I am a PROUD owner of Android (Droid X) and i would never go to IOS as a phone os…. I just need more out of my phone. But as for a tablet experience, I actually liked IOS better. It just seems more polished. Honeycomb actually seems kind of choppy and a work in progress. With IOS, there seemed to be a better choice of games, software, AND IT HAS NETFLIX. Yea I know its coming to Android but I want it when I actually buy my tablet. I know Android has more capabilities and is more open, but the speed and quality of IOS is something that I value in a tablet. Lastly, I was really concerned about a browser with no flash, but honestly I dont think it will be that big of a deal for me because im mainly using this iPad for games, movies, netflix, and server/client remoting.

Who needs a tablet? You have a smartphone and a laptop/netbook. No room for anything in between. Tablets are over-priced hype that add nothing, but take a lot away.

    • Anonymous

That’s your opinion. 15 million iPad 1 owners and an estimated 42 million plus tablet buyers for 2011 say otherwise. Different strokes for different folks. Just cuz a tablet doesn’t work for u doesn’t mean it wont work for someone else.

      • Tim242

15 million ipads, 90% of which were bought by corporations, not general
        consumers

      • Anonymous

90% corporate? Would love to see the data on that. I personally know 7 people who own an iPad and they bought it themselves. U are just makin crap up. If tablets are so useless why would corporations be buying them then? Dying to hear ur reply lol. Something along the lines of let’s piss away $500 per iPad! Our company needs a tax write off! Hahaha.

      • Tim242

They were bought by corporations, mainly to hand out as gifts, and to people
they thought could use it in their line of work. It could be useful to some.
But, c’mon. It sold ONLY 15 million. That is not many. Watch how the number
will be lower now, especially with the competition heating up. Watch how the
tablet market flares up for a minute, then fizzles out. Kind of like how the
Verizon iphone did, but not quite that fast haha

    • Anonymous

Ur a complete moron. They bought them to give away as gifts? Lmao! Sure. Making more crap up. 15 million is not much? Name another electronic device that sold that many for a first generation. Estimated 33 million ipads to sell in 2011 so I will bet u it won’t be less sold than 15 mill. First u say tablets are dead then u say they wont sell with all the competition? Make up ur friggin mind idiot. Is every other company wrong for trying to make a tablet? Verizon iPhone is a 7 month old phone! IPhone 5 is 4 months away. No shit it wasn’t gonna sell a ridiculous amount. I’ve come to the conclusion ur a fucking dipshit.

      • Tim242

Yes, companies buy them to give out in contests. Verizon gave out 300 of
them at their regional hq here in Little Rock. An ESTIMATED 33 million will
be sold? LoL. How many were estimated to sell last year? Look that one up,
smartass. The Verizon iphone’s poor sales has little to do with the next
version…which Apple said on 1/11/11 may not come to Verizon this year. It
has more to do with Android. Android marketshare went from 9% – 31% in the
last year. iOS went from 22% – 24.7% in that same time period. Android rules
now. Live in denial, if you like how it makes you feel.

      • Anonymous

Ok so verizon gives out 300? Useless device huh? Hmmm probably pretty fucking good business tool then huh? iPad sold less last year then expected? True. Wanna know why? Some dumbass analyst 50 times smarter than u didn’t realize YOU HAVE TO HAVE PARTS TO BUILD THE FUCKING THINGS! apple sold less ipads then expected because production couldn’t keep up. Look that one up fuckhead. Claim what u want about why verizon iPhone didn’t sell well. I don’t care. But when the verizon iPhone 5 is a HUGE hit then I think my reason is proven correct. U are by far the stupidest fuck I have ever had the displeasure of talking to.

      • Tim242

LoL you take things too seriously. Get out and take a deep breath. No need
in stroking over apple’s poor sales. Android FTMFW!

      • Tim242

Your master Steve wouldn’t appreciate that, and neither would my husband : )

      • Honeynook

I really don’t like the iPad, but you are a fucking idiot if you think that 15 million products in a single generation isn’t a lot. I’d also like a SOURCE for your 90% number.

GTFO out of here with that garbage.

firstly, what the hell is the point of a tablet anyway, its crap to type on, can do nothing a laptop can’t do, and is nowhere near as powerful as a laptop. In any case, If i were to suddenly think a tablet was more than some over indulged western idea of something one has to have to be happy, it would be a Motorola Xoom or a 10 inch galaxy tab…

I plan on buying on day one. It will be my first Apple product. My toshiba laptop is on its last leg and I will retire it to be my media center PC. Already bought a padpivot to go with the Ipad 2. EVO 4G your still my go to gadget!

  • Anonymous

Let me pose a question (owning neither Apple products nor any Android products although this will change soon)…who is NOT buying an iPad 2 but instead buying an iPad at the cheaper price and why? I don’t really see a need for FaceTime since none of my friends or family have Apple products. The faster processor would be nice but is it necessary for surfing the web, reading PDFs/books, etc? The iPad 2 just doesn’t seem like that big of a jump and the first version may suffice for many people…at a cheaper price.

  • numetheus

The polling done on tech blogs like this is absolutely no indication of how popular a product will be. The overwhelming community here are tech geeks and gadget lovers. The overwhelming demographic of people interested in Apple products is the general consumer who for the most part are not tech geeks, may know nothing about computers outside of browsing the Internet and doing work stuff, and will choose something for the overall experience (this includes style) rather than raw specs.

    where’s the “FUCK NO” choice?

  • HARRY2SAX

I plan on buying one. I love the iPad! It’s a awesome product!

  • Therealjammer

Too bad others have to wait for iPad 3 to save for it’s cost. Sorry…:(

  • enaybee

Wifi Xoom for 539 at costco or sams. :)

  • Anonymous

How bout some android devs up the amount of tablet apps from the 5 there are currently. Ipad is behind spec wise, but they got all the apps and the devs apparently.

  • Brad

    Of course I’m buying one.

  • http://www.twitter.com/Wicked_1 Wicked1

Nope, didn’t care about the 1st one, don’t care about this 1. I have no interest in tablets. If I was to win 1 in a sweeps or something, ok, but even then I would probably sell it, haha
