GSM-capable HP TouchPad gets hands-on treatment [video]

Tablets

Oh boy, HP’s corporate security team is not going to be happy with this. Courtesy of blog tinhte.vn, we have been treated to a handful of high-resolution photographs and a two-plus minute video of a GSM-capable HP TouchPad frolicking free in Vietnam. The blog notes that the tablet — a 3G GSM version with 32GB of memory — seems to be void of any useable software and, for whatever reason, doesn’t like power chargers from third-parties. The TouchPad is due out this summer at an undisclosed price. Have a look at the video after the break and let us know what you think!

Doesn’t have DROID OS either. Lame!

        Come on, man. Droid OS?

      • Quailallstar

You mean ANDROID! DROID is a marketing term used by Verizon Wireless ;)

What the hell is Droid OS, don’t you mean Android?

Someone forgot to turn it on. That SIM port looks solid as well. HP who has a lot of cash paid way too much for Palm which has never made a cent of profit for who ever has owned the company. HP will never recover their investment. Yet, they know staying with MS OS for PC is also going to be challenging with a steady decline is sales over the next decade. HP is likely missing the boat in every aspect and having lots of money to throw around is not going to solve their problem. NOK is also in trouble with MS…Elop has made a mess of thinks. Seems like the only underdog to have a chance is RIM with their new QNX. Owning your own OS is key and if RIM successfully launches the PB and their new OS, They could carve themselves a space in this mobile and tablet market.

If you peep at :32, you’ll see the battery charge notification come up on the screen.

      The battery is just dead.

They should have shown their face in the reflection a bit more, maybe then HP could find out who released it.
    DumbA$$!

They could easily find out who the dumbass is by looking at the serial number on the back of the device. Someone is getting fired soon.. LOL.

As much as I’d love to buy a TouchPad, Palm’s App Store is very limited in it’s selections….

the interesting deal about the TouchPad is the OS. WebOS, from a UI standpoint, has a much better chance of beating iOS. Of course, no one can touch iOS on Apps..just the way it is..i’d still like to see one in person!

  • i told u so.com

what is everyone talking about who knows nothing about OS. I myself have been a engineer for years, and have used all OS’s. Webos is by far leaps ahead of the competition, and even webos users that have ported over 2.1 on their existing Pre devices, are in aww of what the future holds. As Wallstreet stats HP webos will be 2nd to them in a years time, applications are there now the ones needed, BUT will have over 20k this summer for the Pre 3, Veer, and Touchpad so no Apps is not a issue. The BB OS they use is inferior period and wont hold a candle to the touchpad, nor anything Android comes with since it is not full linux capable, and has so many OS design flaws. But dont take my word for it, wait until its released and see how it does laps around other OS’s like it has done so in the past.

I agree. WebOS is way ahead and far more stable than everything else out there.

The problem has been hardware. I like the new tablet but the Pre 3 was a let down, they NEED to offer a slate device with a 4″ screen before the end of summer then they will have something great to go along with their awesome tablet.

      That didn’t help Palm pre.
