iPad 2 will be available from Best Buy, Walmart and Sam’s Club at launch

Though not confirmed on all counts, it looks like Apple’s iPad 2 will be available from several third-party retailers at launch. Best Buy, the nation’s largest consumer electronics retailer, has already confirmed that it will carry Apple’s second-generation iOS tablet starting March 11th, as was expected. 9to5 Mac now reports that in addition to Best Buy, nationwide retail giants Walmart and Sam’s Club will both carry the iPad 2 at launch as well. Both chains already have iPad 2 SKU numbers showing in their respective inventory systems, the blog’s source claims. The report might help quell rumors of potential launch inventory shortages that have been swirling for the past month.

UPDATE: Walmart just made it official — and it will offer each model for $1 under MSRP.

        Generally everything you buy with the card at Target you get 10% off. I know that was also applicable for the 1st iPad so I assume with be for the 2nd as well. My wife shops a ton there so I got the card and she buys whatever she normally would buy and I just always pay off at the end of the month.

        It maybe 5%, and 10% on special things. I forget. But how much she spends there it adds up. Only worht if you pay off every month.

      But, for how much? I was all set for a Xoom as well. I refuse to sign up for a 2 yr contract, or pay 799 for it. You can get a 64 GB ipad 2 for less than that. Moto better give me a price on a wifi version before next week

        i care more about what i can do with the device, especially since moto announced it having an unlocked bootloader

        Yeah like use those tens of tablet-specific apps, wait for the SD card to be activated, and wait for flash to be delivered someday. And it cost MORE than an iPad?

        But you only need to pay 1 month of data. There’s no 2 yr contract.

      I bought a xoom took it back 2 days later. It is not a finished product! android had 11 apps made for it yeah I said 11 apps. I had to do a soft restart 5 times in 2 days. It will be a good product later on but right now it has a lot of problems

    One of my friends is willing to give me her iPad for $300 so she can save enough money to buy the iPad 2..I’m not a big tablet guy so I don’t see the use of having one. Anyone that owns a tablet could explain the benefit of having one?

        We are brothers in arms! Brothers in arms with 2 purposes in life:

        1. Destroy evil Apple* and the simpleton customers (that is if we can’t bring them to the good side)
        2. Make sure Google has 100% market share in ALL tech businesses (nothing less!)

        *Of course we will be a little bored once Apple is gone but we will find another hated foe, perhaps Facebook, who’s attempting to take our God’s (Google) business.

      Don’t listen to that idiot below. Anywho, the idea of ANY tablet, is a larger screen than that of a phone and similar portability. email, Web, some games, Calendar, eBooks, Facebook/Twitter. Depending on what you have for TV services, some have apps for Cable/Dish systems.

        If you pay full price $799 you can get the Xoom without a contract and you dont have to sign up for 1 month of service if you buy at the Verizon store. Not sure about Best Buy you may still have to sign up for 1 month.

        OR you can buy it on a 2 year contract for $599 but I think I read the data plan is $20 for 1GB which is too much if you ask me. Not that I mind because whatever I buy I only want wifi anyway.

      Its 1GHz dual core A5 system on a chip. They have not released RAM figure, Apple never do for their iOS devices, but it is thought to be at least 512MB, maybe 1GB. iFixit will probably do a tear down on launch day to confirm.
