Apple updates iTunes to 10.2, adds iOS 4.3 support and improved Home Sharing

Software

Apple on Wednesday released an update to its iTunes software. The update comes following its media event where the new iPad 2 was finally unveiled. iTunes 10.2 doesn’t add any major functionality to the software, listing only two features in the accompanying change log:

  • Sync with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 4.3.
  • Improved Home Sharing. Browse and play from your iTunes libraries with Home Sharing on any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 4.3.

Apple’s iTunes 10.2 software is available immediately and can be downloaded from Apple’s iTunes page, which is linked below.

    Cool.

I would settle for just adding “reduced bloat”. iTunes is a pig, and desperately needs some streamlining. Worst part about my iPhone 4 experience, hands down.

I totally agree, my library has grown to >500 GB in size and now iTunes is a slow dog!

Most i-products are cool but iTunes really sucks on Windows. The last time I used iTunes was when I upgraded my iOS device.

That’s okay. IE hasn’t supported Mac for many years now. Turnabout is fair play, I reckon.

I don’t really get Home Sharing – anyone know of a good overview/tutorial on how to use it?

If you’re looking to share your library with your iPhone you need to wait until Friday 3/11/11 for iOS 4.3. Sharing between computers is fairly easy once you allow access as the other computers appear similar to a playlist.

I’m running this new version on a Mac and ever since getting this new version it takes dang near 20 minutes just to sync my iPad when it used to take just a few seconds…
